arista 21-09-2024 06:11 PM

On Now

Vanessa 21-09-2024 06:15 PM

Oh dear. It's a bir of a mess :umm2:

Vanessa 21-09-2024 06:47 PM

Sam and Nikita were good.
Shayne has potential, I quite enjoyed that samba.

Vanessa 21-09-2024 07:16 PM

Tasha was absolutely brilliant! :cheer2:

Mystic Mock 21-09-2024 09:11 PM

Without meaning to sound mean here, but how Chris scored a 23, above Shayne, Nick, Dr. Punam, and Pete is a mystery.:umm2:

And I do controversially think that Tasha was massively overscored, she barely moved for chunks of the performance.

joeysteele 21-09-2024 09:36 PM

Good opening show .

As usual spoiled by the judges votes.

Vanessa 21-09-2024 09:37 PM

Really enjoyed Jamie and Michelle first dance. I thought it was beautiful. I've got a feeling about these two.

They always play favorites. Too harsh on some and very lenient on others.

The score for Chris was definitely the biggest uptick in score to where I think he should've placed on the leaderboard.

Strictly always has lower ratings at first.

The masses start tuning in once the first elimination gets underway.

Strictly Jake 23-09-2024 06:30 AM

Well I finally caught up with this last night. I said a few weeks back that I wasn't keen on this line up...I eat my words, I love this line up. There is something for everyone and I see really good potential in a lot of them. It's going to be a fantastic series.

Nicky91 23-09-2024 07:20 AM

alright week 1, amazing show

my thoughts

Nick & Luba: at first i was like NICK KNOWLES and Jive, Oh NO but it was surprisingly decent and good fun, well done 6

Sam & Nikita: i thought it looked smooth, although could've had more rise and fall, and more into the storytelling, rather than dancing by numbers, but okay 6

Shayne & Nancy: it was a fun performance, hips were amazing but i agree with Craig this was not a samba, more like a disco salsa, although i did see some attempts at volta's, botafogo's 5

Toyah & Neil: wasted chance of a toyafied tango, shame her nerves got the better of her 1

Tasha & Aljaz: finalist material! superb cha cha, wow 9

JB & Amy: same as Tasha, easy finalist material, it looked so easy 9

Pete & Jowita: as a rock performance it was epic, as a paso it was a Dance Disaster, no spanish lines whatsoever, no fluidity of movement, got on the wrong knee too, it lacked the dramatic traditional paso face expressions or any expression 1

Sarah & Vito: yass, yass, yasss great quickstep, great storytelling 8

Tom & Nadiya: meh, nothing too special, decent tango though 6

Punam & Gorka: more movement than Toyah, Pete for sure but it was also plain bad levels of pedestrian, next 2

Paul & Karen: iconic, and i did recognize some of foxtrot movements but it was not a classic american smooth, but it surely was super iconic 10

Jamie & Michelle: decent but could've been great, perfect song choice too, great chemistry between these two 7

Chris & Dianne: biggest surprise of the evening, and maybe it was good because it was a fun dance, still not sure how he'll perform in more serious and slower dances, and how it'll have to seem if he is leading, while dianne is leading but good performance 7

TeamMoJo: lovely foxtrot, one with potential for sure, wow 9

Wynne & Katya: was a better samba than Shayne's and also more recognizable as a samba, decent volta's, lack of botafogo's here and there, but fun performance 8

Nicky91 23-09-2024 07:21 AM

do think it is between Toyah, Punam, Pete who goes first

Nicky91 23-09-2024 08:00 AM

Dianne Buswell reaching NEW HEIGHTS of Choreography Skills with that Cha Cha choreo for comedy legend Chris

that lift also nice, didn't think he'd be able to pull that off

Kate! 23-09-2024 08:17 AM

Well! Chris McCausland.... watched it three times and more and more impressed each time. I said in my other thread it'd be wrong if he won on pity and/or because he's funny but omg, there's not 1 ounce of that.

I also said if he turned out to be a good dancer then all well and good. He's not just a good dancer, he's a great dancer. Really pleased for him and Dianne. A truly enjoyable performance and he's modest as well. An absolutely definite contender from week 1.

wouldn't go that far already Kate, but you said it, not me

i myself more think he's more the type for the fun feel good performances, but if he can prove me wrong in the ballrooms and in a paso doble, rumba i will take my metaphorical hat off

i also think Jamie is getting too much hate, because he won the christmas special doesn't exactly mean he has loads of dance experience, he still has a lot to learn like everyone else, and a christmas special or a regular series are two completely different things, yes you get a taste of the show, but tbh in a regular series you won't get awarded 8's 9's 10's immediately, and it was also Michelle's own debut with a partner, so yeah i forgive her for any mistakes this first performance, i do see a lot of potential in them, they have a strong dynamic already

i also appreciate Luba way more now than before, but tbh she just had bad luck getting the no hoper duds like Cracknell and Jason Bell in her first two years, last year with Adam was already a massive improvement from her, and now i like how she wants Nick to believe in himself, in trying her hardest to bring that performer out of him

do think Sarah can be quite a competitive middler type of contestant either, she is very funny but also got some decent dance talent as well

Kate! 23-09-2024 08:32 AM

What were you watching Nicky. Chris's performance was outstanding, was a joy to watch. I can't win with you, if I critique him you take offence and if I praise him you think I'm over the top?
