is not doing a u-turn.

The scariest thing is many of them will probably be homeless and destitute, on release. With a cold winter just round the corner, many will want back in that jail cell asap with a hot meal a day to look forward to...

So if course they will just re offend with the offences they know best, to get them back inside.

I found the sight of early released offenders popping champagne corks at the gates of the prison quite sickening. Not surprised it made a front page.
