On the other hand, its united  and up to 50% of that squad need to be looked at and difficult decisions need to be made about them. I'm talking Rashford, Bruno to start with and we'll take it from there

He didn't turn Liverpool down; he tried to use West Ham as leverage to speed LFC up, so we walked away. I think he's a good manager, and I wouldn't be surprised if the real reason we walked away is because we didn't want to spend any money to reshape the squad to his 3-4-3, rather than our traditional 4-3-3/-4-3-2-1.

Yeah you're right. I forgot West Ham were interested too

He even travelled to London for talks then had to apologise over it, left himself looking a bit silly basically

He might well succeed but I can also see it being another disaster appointment

Anyone who is not given Carte Blanche over the squad will be the same old story. Fans will say 'We're back' then they'll lose in Europe.

This is true, and it is probably the biggest problem at the club.

I remember when Arteta got rid of Ozil and then Aubameyang. Ozil I wasn't too fussed about but Aubameyang. I was spitting fire when he got rid of the then-top scorer.. It had to be done and he's been proved right.

With all the Man Utd fans around and pundits who are ex-United. Will they allow a no-name manager to do that kind of surgery on the squad? We wait and see but, at this time, I'm saying no.

Hopefully a Manager with a bit of charisma will be picked.

I'm sick of seeing Managers scowling in press conferences.

I'm honestly surprised this has taken so long for this to come about.
It's good he's gone but I hope they get someone who not only has a better plan but who can inspire the team too.
Because they are looking demoralised.

This.

I think he should have won the last two or three international competitions with the talent at his disposal so pretty sure he would struggle with this United squad

The "talent" for England couldn't beat Greece.

Southgate was the talent, not the players.

Van Nistelrooy is not a great head coach

he flopped big time at PSV, while he was amazing at the youth teams here

idk Amorim, but portuguese coaches have done quite well at the club, Mourinho but also the assistent to Sir Alex, Queiroz

hope he is completely different to ETH, coaching style wise

£10 million compensation fee agreed

Good to go

If the guy has courage he will take control now in time for the weekend game against Chelsea ..

If he has any sense he will sit this one out

Someone mentioned it on the radio when RVN was being muted as the possible manager

I look at the facts, not what I wish were the case.

Southgate would've had England beat Greece.

He was just experiencing though .. everyone was excused about playing all the flair players.

Sadly it didn’t quite work out ..

Didn’t we miss some easy chances and could have won ?

Southgate’s tactics were never top rated and that was shown in those major competition defeats

Greece had three goals disallowed against us.

Without Southgate as Manager we reverted back to being that team that loses to teams that are meant to be considerably weaker than us.

Yeah but it was a nothing game with an interesting experiment that went wrong

He did what we all wanted Southgate to do and show a bit of courage

Look at all the times we played with two holding midfielders against absolute duffers

If this England team with "amazing talent" can't play Greece off the park, then the team isn't as good as it's hyped up to be imo.

They simply weren’t prepared though if you recall …

He actually said “ we tried this set up for 20 minutes yesterday in training and decided to try it against Greece “

Tactics shouldn't even be an excuse with the players that England have in comparison to Greece.

If I'm being brutally honest.

Their two greatest ever managers and probably the two greatest managers in the English football league history, Sir Matt Busby and Sir Alex Ferguson. Both Scottish. So why not go for a Scotsman?

Steve Clarke or Big Duncan Ferguson.
