it would put an american sovereign region within direct range of attack by iran. I don't see that as a situation that would improve world security. We also had terrorist attacks on Tunisia, i can see this shapimg up exactly the same

I assume as
he wants them away
from his mate, next door.

Of course, they have every right
to stay in the nation they were born in.

just stated the locals are only being
removed temporarily.

Trump's approach generally seems to be to make an outlandish statement or intention, cause a lot of panic and then negotiate something much more pragmatic. It's just worked with tariffs and it's probably the aim with Greenland and here. It might force the Arab world to be more proactive in building a lasting peace and providing solutions rather than just wash their hands of it.

That's so true and most people can't be arsed what he says anymore and even does. The remaining factions that do heavily attach themselves to media chatter and it's that media that "panics". But I think at this point, they're played for fools and have become tools of the opposition. It's like throwing out food to seek out the vultures who wait to feed... their reaction is too predictable.

the thing is, if Trump keeps doing this type of thing, forcing sides to negotiate, it also can lull people into a false sense of security

He also weakens his negotiating position every time he makes grand threats and then settles on more reasonable grounds, because the grand threats will be increasingly dismissed as bluster. His ability to continue this tactic is severely time-limited... or perhaps more worryingly... for it to continue to work, he'd have to "seemingly randomly" follow through on a few grand threats, for no reason other than to have the threats continue to be plausible.

It's obviously a business tactic and one that's been effective for him long-term but the difference is business deals are happening as individual events, so what's worked on one deal can continue to work on other deals.

In this case, the world is watching, and the leaders he'll be negotiating with are not only watching but assessing and analysing.

It's a beautiful stretch of Mediterranean coastline. They could make billions from tourism. But Palestinians would rather live in the dark ages with all their hate.

arista 06-02-2025 12:05 PM

Yes President Trump has stated
No USA Troops at all.

I am sure that will please Hamas

I wonder what the reaction would be if he offered jobs and homes to the current residents.

I think their reaction would be to say he's a blasphemous infidel and call for his beheading.

"Their land would make a lovely tourist hotspot for 1st world holibobs you know" is almost deliciously dystopian :joker:.

Like Dubai? Like Qatar is aiming for? Yeah, what would be the rationale?

I mean realistically it's too fkn hot like the rest of the southern Mediterranean, but at the very least the Brits will never learn and will continue to love it and drag their crispy arses off to their annual Dermatology appointment.

Trump gifted a golden pager by Netanyahu to commemorate the devices that blew up
terrorists in Lebanon

https://i.dailymail.co.uk/1s/2025/02...8859994044.jpg

Israel orchestrated an attack dubbed 'Operation Grim Beeper' on Hezbollah in
September when they exploded thousands of handheld pagers and walkie-talkies
simultaneously in separate events in Lebanon and Syria.

The attack killed at least 42 people - and at least 12 civilians.
