I dont think it is for me to let our neighbours know that we are having guests around for a BBQ in case they were thinking of using heavy machinery ....if anything it was their responsibility to inform us of the work they were having done on the Bank Holiday in case we had plans... I mean they knew how inconvenient and noisy it was going to be hence they piussed off for the day.. The weather has been so nice leading up to this BH weekend it would have been mindful that people may want to get the BBQ and entertain family and friends ... I have no problem with work being done...long term or weekend mowing..the point was it being on the BH. |
They waited until after 8am which is the considerate thing to do

Of course Joey...many people work Mon-Fri and do that sort of thing at the weekend...but mowing your lawn does not take more than an hour unless you live on a large plot of land where you wont be heard anyway  |

You can’t get any one out to a burglary Do you actually think the law is working in this country? Theresa may gets six armed officers assigned to guard her in three top of the range Volvos and she will have them for the rest of her life the same goes for all previous prime ministers |

Its on a Bank Holiday...its illegal regardless. |

Yes... completely thoughtless. People only seem to care about themselves these days and do not give a toss about others. |
Did they actually wake you, rusticgal?

I didn't know it was against the law on a BH? It might be different here in Scotland

Tbh they must be cowboys when we put our last place up for sale we had some overgrown trees cut back, the guy who did it, told us to let the neighbours know what day he was cutting, and that was on a weekday, because besides the noise it is likely you will get debris in your garden, its just good manners, something completely lacking in some

Thanks to rusti for providing a good discussion on a slow bank holiday Monday :clap2: |

Exactly… |

You are welcome…good debate is always good  |
Had to be up early today as was going out but yesterday when I wanted a sleep in, a Sunday of a bank Holiday the neighbours at the back were taking down scaffolding so loudly throwing pipes etc on the floor! At 8 o clock in the morning!

It’s so inconsiderate of people… |
The thing is, people complain when gardens are overgrown and when stuff like scaffolding is up etc.. You can't please everyone.

Quote:
No one is complaining about gardening being done or having scaffolding up/down…the debate is about when is the right time to do it. |

Also I just googled as I was curious and although it is ‘prohibited’ to carry out noisy work on Sundays or bank holidays it says there is no actual law against it?

Depends what you classify as noisy… |

It did come across as extremely inconsiderate.
Even moreso with the results of the work in progress spilling over into rusti's area. That doesn't happen with good professional working and it shouldn't do so either. Hope your week goes better than yesterday rusti. |
