So odd when you think about it

I think it's partly because a lot of early Christians thought the end times were coming so they should abstain from worldly things and devote themselves entirely to God instead. But then that didn't happen but they still kept the practice

Although guess it's a thing in other faiths too

Ive heard people say that the reason for Catholic Priests celibacy is to protect the churches property and wealth from passing to wives or children

Yeah that's quite possible although celibacy has always been very prized in Christianity since the beginning

…I always thought that celibacy was because the devotion was to God and that was the single focus, as opposed to a wife and children and with a Catholic nun for instance, her marriage is to God so that has to remain faithful…with a priest/monk, male disciple as it were…they’re trying to follow a likeness of path and lifestyle of someone who never married/had sexual desires……/…Jesus Christ…so neither do they because they walk in that same path or try/pertain to…

…Religion though, does make a choice of not updating/progressing with certain things…if God is everything that the Catholic faith relays then he’s an understanding God that many people follow a path of what they feel is ‘goodness’ but not follow or attach to a religion as such…the God that I was brought up to understand as a young Catholic person as well, would have understood and (…I feel be supportive…)…of a female pope…as his focus was on goodness/not on gender…and was on understanding and non judgement etc…

…anyways…

I'm beginning to wonder if some religions might have misogyny issues.
