you know a cynic would say this was the last attempt to boost ratings

dustmite 04-07-2003 09:54 PM

The housemates most likely won't have, they have plans in place for this (there's always a people carrier on site to take them away in case of such occasions)

From Digital Spy:

BREAKING NEWS: Incident in BB house?

Email this article | Print this article

Posted on Day 43 at 8.33pm by Neil Wilkes

Tonight's 8.30pm Channel 4 show has been put back until 10pm.

An announcement on the station blamed "technical difficulties" for the reschedule, which will see the eviction postponed until 11.15pm.

Additionally, live feeds from the house, both on the internet and E4, have been suspended since 8pm this evening. Both feeds are currently broadcasting the same ariel shot of the garden.

The shock "disappearance of Big Brother" from TV screens this evening has set tongues wagging that there may have been an incident inside the house.

Has one contestant been injured? Has Lisa had another asthma attack? Is this a publicity stunt? Has Big Brother simply forgot to pay the electricity bill? We'll keep you posted on events as they develop.

From Ananova:

Suspect package delays Big Brother show

The live Big Brother eviction show has been delayed after a suspect package was discovered on the Elstree complex where the house is located.

A Channel 4 spokesman said the incident was being dealt with and they hoped to continue with the show at 10pm

From news.bbc.co.uk

Evictions from the Big Brother household have been delayed after a suspect package was found at the Elstree complex where it is filmed.
A spokesman for Channel Four said the incident was being dealt with and they expected the programme to go out at the usual time of 10pm on Friday evening.

A spokesman for the channel said a suspect package was found at the George Lucas building and part of the Elstree Studio complex in Hertfordshire - where Big Brother is filmed - had to be evacuated.

BigSister 04-07-2003 09:58 PM

Di2001 04-07-2003 10:06 PM

Blimey what a turn up for the books!!!

Hubby has found the story on Teletext now about there being a suspect package.

Wonder what the housemates are thinking of it all!!!!

(P.S. Think Gos will go tonight)

If it is an incident then the anti terror police will require several hours to vet a place for secondary devices.

A typical tactic is to have two devices, so when the services are attending the aftermath of the first attack, your second device takes them out as well. Maximum kill rate.

That is what happened at Deal if I remember correctly, a second device was detonated when the police arrived.

The whole programme should be cancelled, going on at 22:00 is not gonna be allowed to happen. If I was in the anti terror squad I would not allow it until there had been a full sweep which can take several hours.

James 04-07-2003 10:10 PM

It might turn out to just be a bag that someone's left unattended though.

blinkinlovely 04-07-2003 10:11 PM

Perhaps they'll be glad to get out... perhaps they could lose Lisa somehow!!

splodge0 04-07-2003 10:11 PM

Positive thinking as always sticks!!:xyxwave:

BusyBee 04-07-2003 10:13 PM

Lets hope its nothing sinister. But I'd rather they put off the eviction than put anyone in danger.

If it is a suspect package then as Sticks says there could quite easily be another hidden away so as not to be found. Fingers crossed.

But better safe than sorry.

dustmite 04-07-2003 10:14 PM

Sticks, it's a "suspect" package. A "suspect" package is anything that's been left unattended. For example, say someone went shopping, bought some shoes in a nice big shoe box (I'm size 13.. so I get some big boxes), then put the box down and forget about it. It'll be deemed a "suspect" package.

The package is then investigated - if it's just the shoe box, with shoes in, then it's deemed to be a false alarm and everything returns to normal.

Think about airports and their "suspect" packages, most are opened by normal police officers if they deem them to be nothing dangerous.

Poor Davina I wouldn't like to do a show with that hanging over me if I was pregnant, maybe they'd be better to postpone it. You can't be sure these days. :conf:
