No seriously, Emily has put herself in the public eye so she has pretty much signed for people to write bad stuff about her. Because you are a personal friend doesn't mean it will stop. You should just ignore them and move away from that post because for every bad post about someone, there is always a good one. Forums are for expressing opinion whether you will hurt anyone on it so just leave them to it, you have your opinion and let them have theirs.

I know you probably didn't mean it in a bad way, but it's better not to use the word "slut" and say something like "The rely on sex appeal to get votes" which is a more reasonable comment.

I'm sure people use the term loosely and don't mean anything bad by it but it can be offensive.

If people think they are sluts let them, it's not going to affect Hope in any way and if you don't like Hope being called sluts well tough, you can‘t do anything about that. It's not like people are threatening to kill them.

Haven’t people got more important things in their life to worry about.

That's a real shame Shaun. You've made me feel better knowing that you'll be back after TXF though.

Although everyone is entitled to their own opinions, insults of any kind are not pleasant to read. Also, it is a little inconsiderate for Hope to be called names, especially because Emily is your friend. I'm sorry you had to read them... as you are probably aware, people may well think such things - but if you don't want to read it, you shouldn't have to.

As I've said to many people who want a break from TiBB, time does often heal things. I'm sure a little time to cool off would be a good idea, and then you'll be back and can join in the discussion once again.

You'll be missed Shaun but I've no sympathy (:tongue:), Emily has put herself in the limelight and has therefore put herself up for "criticism".

Although comments like "slut" aren't nice and may be not be true, we shouldn't have to tred on eggshells when talking about Hope just because one of the member's is your friend as everyone has a right to their opinion, even if they are really strong opinions. I suppose they should only be judged on their singing but TXF is no longer just a singing competition as proven with the numerous stories about the contestants and Emily has her fair share.

Plus, I've seen you posts comments ("chav" at J) which may be deemed offensive and not true so you can't have it both ways. :wink:

I know what it's like though, I had to read a lot of horrid comments about someone in my family a few months ago but I just got on with it because I didn't really have a leg to stand on as I'm the first to share my opinions on reality tv contestants.

That said, your posts & humour will be missed so make sure you come back.

Im not sure which one Emily is to be quite honest with you...
The only one I have a negative opinion on is the 16yr old who was taking her GCSE's a year ago.

Flaunting your breasts, wearing lingerie type outfits and stockings whilst singing about sex/spanking etc is a little much for someone who is barely legal. She's practically a kid and whether it's her choice or Simon's, it's still not right in my opinion.

But if you're going to tell people you're friends with someone currently on television, and can't handle any negative opinions of that person, then that's a shame...because I don't think anyone's opinions of people in the media should be put on hold just because a complete stranger knows them.

It'd be quite arrogant to expect people you've never met to hold back their views for you to be fair.

But we've all got to do what we've got to do =] and if you feel leaving for a while will help then that's all that matters.

There's alot of negativity on this thread to a poster who simply objected to the forum members calling his friend a slut. Can all you people who think, she deserves it and he's overreacting, tell me why?

Nobody called them sluts. I said they didn't miss an occasion to be dressed as because it's the only thing they can show instead of their talent (which they don't have by the way). It's far from an insult.

Emily put herself in the public eye, it's not as though people went around randomly chosing one of Shaun's friends to call a slut so why should she get special treatment?

And nobody is saying she ''deserves it'' but she doesn't have any "hold" over the FM's because one of her friends is a member.

Also, perhaps if TXF hadn't turned into a way of boring the public with their love lives and other sob stories then the contestants wouldn't get slated so much.

Everyone on here really likes Shaun but to be fair, he has no right to tell people not to share their true opinions on somebody who has put themselves into the limelight whether it be his friend or not.

Thanks for agreeing !!!! I wasn't targetting Shaun as I didn't know Emily was his friend. And even if she was, it would have been the same. Is that a crime to say that they have no talent and they only use their sex appeal in order to stay ? Apparently no, it's my opinion.

Ant, I never expected any preferential treatment towards Emily; I'm perfectly fine if people say that Hope aren't good because they can't sing, they aren't unique, whatever, but saying they're sluts/slappers is just unnecessary, regardless of whether I know them or not, and the fact that I do just adds insult to injury.

I said "Bye with no regret" because if you aren't able to understand what people think then you shouldn't go on a forum. And after all, I don't need to justify. I said what I thought about Hope, if you aren't able to understand it then that's your problem but don't find any rubbish excuses to something it never happened.

If I was you Shaun, then i'd be quite angry if someone called my friend a slut although she has agreed to appear on TV so she should expect some negitivity about her.
