You are completely missing the point Milly. Standing up for a principle is never silly. Not standing up for a principle is silly.
So called celebrities getting personal about the personalities of other celebrities and openly disliking them to the point of insulting them without good reason is not acceptable behavour. Making fun of people in good humor is one thing. Being down right nasty to them for no good reason is another matter all together. I wonder. Have they ever met or spoken to P/H to get to know them before showing contempt for them. I doubt it!!! |
i don't know why everyone is gettng so worked up!
And yes i do find it entertaining! I laugh it every week and laugh my head off! You just have to laugh at it or don't watch it! All you people who watched it and where offended by the Helen and Paul sketch -be honest and say whether you laughed or found any of the other sketches amusing ... :spin2: |
Sorry sj. 3rd rate humour generally.:sleep::sleep:
|
I agree with Milly & SJ, you people really need to chill your boots!!!!
In answer to your question Milly, the more I read of this thread, the more I think think they're reactions are funnier! |
ROB, your posting reminded me of an article in this month's Marie Claire (not the one with the god that is David Beckham on the front!! the one before) and he said something very similar about them being completely dense and not having a brain between them.
I can;t quote it 'cos I threw out my copy of Marie Claire in disgust!!:devil::devil: now here's a good use for those nasty icons that I thought i'd never use!:mad: |
Technically I'm a bit late with this, but....
i love alistair mcGowans show, i think it's really funny in most parts, particularily the Louis Therox and Sven and Gary linekar scenes. i saw the Helen and Paul bit tuther week, and i just thought it was funny. particularily the 'i've lost half a stone bit'. i read somewhere that Helen thinks the skits of them are really funny, and it's meant to be lighthearted. :elephant: I love these! :elephant: Sorry, back to topic - it shows that they are still popular if he is still doing skits of 'em, doesnt it? otherwise he wouldn't be able too. |
Did anyone see Alistair McGowan tonight. He did Helen and Paul again. They were watching themselves on TV. It wasn't very long.
Hopefully there won't be any more sketches. |
Saw it, didn't like it, won't be watching it again.
|
Saw this last week. Absolutely HATED it. Decided then not to watch it again.
Not my idea of humour, at all. http://www.plauder-smilies.com/yellows/upsidedowna.gif |
I think the sketches are insulting and offensive, and I will not be watching!
|
I watched my recording of last night's programme this morning.
What can I say? Boring, awful script, still an incredibly bad impersonation of Helen, not even vaguely funny. I suppose if that is the best bit of dazzling wit they can come up with for them, we are unlikely to be subjected to many more. It is necessary to have some semblance of fondness for a character, or at least a grudging respect for them, for any impression to work effectively. Whatever you think about Posh and Becks, you have to admit the lad can play, and Posh has sold a few records, so I think he acknowledges that in his view of them as a couple. Mc Gowan even seems to treat the Hamiltons more kindly, and they are IMHO, complete bloody parasites, who are cashing on as caricatures of themselves. What on earth did poor old Paul and Helen do to him? The inkling came the other week when he introduced them as 'famous for being alive' I think Mc Gowan should go and live with Elizabeth and all the other quiet introspective people he seems to admire so much, and live in a house under surveillance for 9 weeks. Either the cameramen would become catatonic, or the producers would have to have the show pulled off after 48 hours. Even if that didn't happen the numbers would diminish rapidly, as week by week, one after another would poke out their own eyes, throw themselves onto kitchen knives, or cast themselves into the pool with weights attached to their ankles, just to escape from the sheer, soul sapping mediocrity of it all. Or, they might just loose the will to live. Come to think of it, it's a compliment not to be liked by him. |
Well put ROB Watched last week thought it was so awful, did not bother to watch this week. This mans ratings must be dropping,as we have all stopped watching it!!:mad:
|
You lot are the only people i know who don't like the show! :elephant:
|
To be far, i think most of us like some of the impressions on the show (Jonathan Woss, Ross from FRIENDS, Ruby Wax etc) but there are also some that really bomb!
The Paul and Helen ones are among them - their impressions aren't that good and they try and score laughs by making cheap jokes insulting their intelligence to compensate. :nono::nono: BUT - I did get a tingle down my spine when I heard the BB theme music last night.:hugesmile::hugesmile: |
Wot did they do in the sketch this time? I only saw the end bit about the Bee-holder!
