^Wow that looks amazing. i heard something about a film will be made based on the titanic, but if it never sunk.

Sticks 15-04-2008 06:23 PM

Was any of the material on the other forums of use to anyone after I went to the trouble of asking them?

It's being named 'Titanic Quarter' and is in a long line of recent developments including: Victoria Square, Waterfront hall, First Asda in NI, New City Airport aka George Best City airport :) The opel tower, some art gallery, a new chunk of redeveloped road near the Domestic Airport, the city hall redevelopment and a few more smaller things like re-generation/clean up projects.

Official site, look at the header, its going to be pretty impressive:

http://www.titanic-quarter.com/

EDIT: Just before the strange shaped building at the heart of the develepment is an origional Titanic tug boat and a large rectange to make way for a life sized scale lazer model of Titanic. (Dunno how its going to work but it's rumoured to be veeeeery expensive)
Yep im currently monitoring the construciton of the project. i just got back from Belfast after taking a trip to see how they are getting on.

The 'Titanic Signature project' is due to open for the ships 100th anniversary in 2012.

I don't have a clue how they're gonna get it finished on time yet. I was up last 2 wks ago and it just looks the same as ever: A massive heap of eye soar concrete and rundown victorian out buildings with the Titanic slipway. Although I did see a bit of what looked like foundations work going on near the Oydesy from the Belfast eye

Well they are progressing quite well with phase one of the project. if you notice the 'arc apartments' are taking place near the odyssey arena and since i visited last year. they have cleaned up the slipway and they have improved the thompson dry dock a little bit.

Ohhhhh. I never knew that was part of the Arc houseing development, cool :thumbs2:

I seriously think I'm going to buy an apartment there when I move out. Belfast is turning so funky, modern and studentish. The atmoshphere is so cool now and its the second safest capital in Europe for toursits :D

yeh i wanted to buy an apartment there as well but the arc apartments have all sold out and they are so expensive.

a single one bedroom apartment will set you back £210.000

Looks nice, but by looking at the stage their at I think a completion date of 2012 is a bit unlikely.

well only time will tell really. if they hurry up and pull their finger out they might get it done.

unfortuneatly though one of the main problems have been funding. the project was hopefully going to achieve lottery funding but they failed to secure that. Belfast city council is now looking into weather it should put up some public money.

Mystic Mock 04-04-2012 01:49 AM

Near, far, wherever you are.

That's all I know.

On a serious note it's ashame what happened and those currupt bastards got a load of innocent people killed that day.

Harry! 06-04-2012 08:34 PM
