My argos dont, they always say they do but they dont. You need some experience so i suggest starting off somewhere rubbish like Mcdonalds. Or even try and get a volunteer job (Ring up a cattery or a a charity shop).

Once you have experience you will have more chance of getting a job, but really your best bet is to go into further education.
Sorry but thats a load of rubbish. I'm not denying that your argos doesn't take anyone on but I know plenty who have put their CV in one and managed to get a job soon after. Also experience starts with weekend jobs, not the company you work for.

Further education is also vastly overrated. Not many people who come out of Uni actually get a job in the field they've studied in and wasted money on.
So you approve a job in argos over further education? The only reason i promote further education is that you could be working in a job that you actually enjoy doing rather than sitting in an office or at a cashier every day for the rest of your life.
My mum brought me up to follow my dream because you only live once and you work for pretty much half of your life so you might aswell enjoy it, so is further education stupid? No is it hell, dont plague peoples minds with your rubbish someone might take it seriously. just because you think its rubbish doesnt mean it is.
And I only said my Argos in my town never hires people so dont start getting all hot headed at me :conf:
The bit about you speaking rubbish was when you started going on about getting work experience, voluntary work or a job at a crap organisation before applying for a better job. The reason why I brought up Argos was because the OP is clearly wanting a part time job until September, maybe a few weekends beyond that.

My thoughts on further education are that not many people come out with a degree and actually got a job with what their degree is in. Many come out of Uni and just get a normal job. People think Uni opens up new doors, and in a way it does but it doesn't necessarily mean you're going to go down that path because the reality is not everyone will. A lot of people go through Uni then just end up with normal jobs, so my view is why waste 3 years of your life and get yourself in debt when you can just jump straight into getting a job? The job I have atm isn't even full time, and already I'm on better pay than a couple of my friends who have been through Uni who work full time.

Oohhh you both live in Manc, have a fight! :dance2:

As for advice, you are best just giving CV's everywhere. I was a completely CV ***** and handed mine to basically everywhere and got a fair few replies, a few interviews, some weren't successful but it gives you some practice, and then I got a job in GAP last summer. Although it's a nice shop, it bored me absolutely shitless, so the 'fancy' stores are not always the best, though it depends what you prefer.

I work 'somewhere rubbish' and I prefer it a lot more to GAP so don't let the fact it's McDonalds put you off places like that, I wouldn't call it a great job but it's not too bad at all, and the money's pretty good, and as it's only part time, I think it's ideal. Plus, they are hiring in Liverpool in all stores, so I presume they will be where you are, as it gives a website on the advertisement and you put your city in etc.

I believe that's down to the person not having enough ambition, rather than the institution of University/FE.
Not necesarily. I do want to go to Uni [oohhh btw, was working out my grades and points, and providing I get my Psychology, I can get into Lancaster to do the course I want ] but the thing with me, I don't know what job I definatly want so I don't want to get into thousands of pounds of debt and then have this degree that I don't want to do anything with. Granted, having a degree on your CV will always increase your chances of getting any job, regardless of what degree it is, but Uni is probably only a good idea if you know exactly what you are wanting to do, and a job to fill in say a year is not a bad suggestion.
