I think Rex is one very angry young man and lives in the shadow of his Daddy! His face picking and foot jiggling is a sign of some deep insecurity - so is his bullying. Bullies are basically cowards and are usually the victims of bullying themselves - back to Daddy again? I think that Rex might have heard the crowd shouting Get Rex Out! He knows he is going to get a bad reaction when he is booted out of the house and he is petrified!
