Well we were not destroyed

But a 16 year old in India commited suicide because the media said it would destroy everything she loved, which she did not want to see happen.

So it turned out the only danger was from gross misreporting in the press :mad:


As for the LHC, it is down at the moment for repairs after a magnet failed causing a leak of Helium into the main tunnel

The machine got switched off after the first week because it wasn't working properly. I heard that they're hoping to turn it back on in early 2009.

Which is something those of us with an interest in the field of particle physics and cosmology are eagerly waiting for. I just hope we can make a better job of educating the public not to believe the woo-woo about the LHC.
