And I no pink, its like we havent had a real summer for two years, and a real cold winnter for 8 years.

And Rory, basically the clocks go back last week of october, and forward last week of march, or so I think.
Yeah, we have GMT (from October until March) and then BST (British Summer Time).

Well, I'm glad our first topic of discussion is the darker nights. We have Daylight Savings Time here in America, and that's not in effect until November 2nd. So I have a few more nights of lighter days!

How does the daylight savings (or clocks-setting-back) work over there?
I am from Zona! Only state in the US that doesnt change time!
Really? So what about the entire Mountain Time Zone?
ONly Arizona! Everyone else switches! I never quite understood the reason behind it? New mexico changes, utah changes etc..

pinkmichk 26-10-2008 07:31 PM

perhaps even longer than that cos the day i had my daughter in april 05 there was snow  i am a winter baby so expect it round my birthday (jan) but it rarely happens now
the seasons all blend into one now gone are the summers that went right into early oct

Gemmer-x 26-10-2008 07:31 PM

why do we actually put the clocks back/forward? :puzzled:

Callum 26-10-2008 07:32 PM

I forgot the clocks went back, what time would have it been this time yesterday then?

It was meant to be for farmers.

I like the whole going back/forward thing.

Does anyone get snow where we live?
I want a winter of like 2ft snow, but only for a week :P

But our country cant cope with 5cm now, just like at the news last year - motorways came to a standstill because of a tiny little bit.

Tom4784 26-10-2008 07:33 PM

Finally somewhere to go to get some peace

*sits in a corner and reads car magazine*

I love classy cars, Lamborghini's, roll's Royce, mercedes they're all amazing!

We get snow occasionally, not much though only a few times a year.

I'm only here for a minute-I'm counting money,my dad said I could have his huge jar of change for the tour(on loan obv) but I had to count it all.

pinkmichk 26-10-2008 07:35 PM

the clocks went back at 2am this morning

i'd love a proper winter where there is a lot of snow but agree magic our country goes in a blind panic at the first sign of a couple of snowflakes

It's all to do with saving the hours of daylight, and was started by a chap called William Willett, a London builder, who lived in Petts Wood in Kent.

Basically, he reckoned that you could improve the population's health and happiness by putting forward the clocks by twenty minutes every Sunday in April and do the opposite in September.
