Thursday the 27th of May seems to be about the right time for me. If I were the BB producers then I would say, 'Forget BGT and just don't worry about the ratings' because they will manage and this will most likely be the last series anyway (unless of course it is amazing entertainment).

They should use BGT to their advantage though and advertise during it. |
In a way you are right Matt because BGT is huge with the ratings and BB has been slumping a lot in recent years but I think the producers should just go for it.
Seeing as it is likely to be the last series of BB it shouldn't really matter how the ratings do (well it doesn't in my eyes). As long as the viewers at home are entertained then that is the job done for C4. Of course, ratings are a big bonus for TV channels but if BB is dying then let it die. Anyway, it all depends on when BGT starts. If BGT starts any later than last year (which I think is unlikely) then BB will probably launch around late May kind of time because I don't see the producers wanting to hang around for too long. However, if BGT starts earlier it is likely to end earlier and therefore BB could go ahead in late May anyway. To conclude, I don't think anyone can realistically judge when BB will start until we have an official start date for BGT (which I'm almost certain we don't have yet). IMO the BB producers will have to wait until BGT is over or change their time slot for the highlights shows (which I can't see happening). |

Of course it's unlikely that BB10 will rate as high as BB9, but they will not be doing it any favours by scheduling it against Britains Got Talent. Ratings are not just a "big bonus" for TV channels. Channels want as many people watching their shows as they can get, and so it is evident that now Big Brother is not rating as highly, Channel 4 don't regard it as they once did. Clearly they're not against launching in early June since that's when BB9 launched, so it's not like the producers will be "hanging around". Don't forget that the producers will only have a marginal say in when BB launches - scheduling is entirely down to Channel 4. |
Personally if like last year BGT have the week of finals then the grand final on the Saturday, I'd capitalise on that momentum and launch on the Sunday after.
Really though if BB did launch before BGT it shouldn't be too much of an issue as during the week they can just air at 10pm after BGT has finished. |

Last date to choose a date is 3rd April Good luck! |
Britain's Got Talent is on later than last year so it will probably launch at the end of May and when the semi finals are on settle for a 10pm slot. Maybe even the eviction would be on at this time now News at Ten is back
