Its only an ad campaign and to get people talking

LemonJam 18-03-2009 03:42 PM

Tbh, I see more girls OMNOMNOMing yorkies than guys.

They might see the advert and think, "Hey, I can eat one of those too!" and do so with no problem.

When McDonalds in 2006 did their Yorkie McFlurry they came up with this image

http://photos-e.ak.fbcdn.net/photos-...49796_1156.jpg

Note how violence against women is implied with the product crushing the female figure

In 2009 the same product was advertised differently

http://photos-b.ll.facebook.com/phot...49801_5977.jpg

Note the absence of the "It's not for Girls" logo

If it is just a bit of fun, why did McDonalds stop using this sexist logo?

I did wonder, back in 2006 if any female might not be allowed to buy a Yorkie McFlurry. What would have happened if a server back then had refused to serve a woman, or worse a young girl one of these, because they saw the promotional materials saying it was not for girls.

pinkmichk 18-03-2009 04:11 PM

are you taking the pee sticks of course a woman wont have been refused one cos of a joke ad campaign oh and as a victim of domestic abuse seeing that pic does not flash up the warning light in my head about violence to women

Tom 18-03-2009 04:11 PM

LMAO @ the 2006 image :laugh2:

SkyNews
has a Reporter on Tour
he is in Bristol and Bath areas

Cadburys sell their products
to all in the UK.

But it will be made in Poland, from now,
as those workers take 70% less in wage.

Pathetic Brown "British Jobs
for British workers"
is a Dumb statement.

Boycott Cadbury's.

Oh, and stand up for the 2-dimensional 'woman' being crushed by the yorkie McFlurry... (actually, I can't think of a more pleasant way to die.. )

30stone 18-03-2009 08:47 PM

Hello the "only-for-girls" yorkie!

The other weekend I saw this

http://photos-d.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos..._3195128_n.jpg

Could the manufacturers be seeing the light? I got this this afternoon from the garage on Barak Road in Newcastle. No mention of the "It's not for Girls"

Let us know if more of these are coming or if the manufacturers are going back to their old ways

arista 08-06-2009 03:44 PM

But it is Not for Girls.

Sign Of The Times

Tom4784 08-06-2009 03:45 PM

Sometimes I think you're quite literally political correctness in human form Sticks. The whole advertising campaign's a light hearted play on the age old men VS Women thing. The reason why they might have dropped the 'not for girls' thing is probably because they came to the end of that advertising campaign.

Not everything in life is a conspiracy.

i dunno whats more worrying you believing yorkies should be boycotted over a advertising slogan or the taking pics of a yorkie bar complete with diary recordings of date time place etc:laugh:

I thing they just gave up the ad campaign because it was getting old...

Sticks 09-06-2009 07:02 AM

If I remember I hope to look at the news agent at lunchtime

This Ad campaign has run a long time.

Exactly, its more likely that they moved on from the campaign onto another one. As alot of them seem to do.
Its just a chocolate bar, I fail to see anything wrong with it.
