It's already been discussed that Hira won't bathe in front of anyone else and won't even wear a bikini, for cultural and religious reasons.

It seems wrong to me to discuss her in those terms.
Much though I think she's a boring housemate I think that there has to be some respect.

nah, you know the score when you go into that house. Marcus is Marcus, it's harmless schoolboyish behaviour. It's infantile and some folk aint gonna like it but it's harmless nonsense and well within what is to be expected on this kinda show.
How do you know it's harmless! You don't know him! You don't know what is going on his head - well not completely!

And I do think some of his behaviour has gone beyond expected boundaries!! A lot do!!

yawwwnnnn...a nice wee cup of tea darling?

Well in my opinion and it is just my opinion, all these tards who think marcus is some sort of serial rapist should put their money where their mouths are and keeps the streets of London clear of his vileness.

Keep Marcus in the house where he can be monitored on camera and he cant prey on women. Keep this scum off our streets

Keep Marcus in.

No, to be fair that's not a fact because I wouldn't talk about a woman who I knew was devoutly Muslim in that way.

And neither would most of my male friends / aquaintances.

or could be they are boring, uptight, prudish and with no sense of youthful fun.

It's called having a giggle - most guys and galls engage in that sort of thing. It's just the two sexes do it in different ways and sheltered delicates like yourself are maybe gonna be a bit shocked.

Exactly. Talking about a porn star or a woman who walks around with her tits and fanny hanging out is one thing but talking about a devout muslim who is married and opposes wearing even a bikini is another

are you on the womens lib bandwagon or what? im certainly not a sad desperate girl who pretends to be a lesbian or have a threesome!! i certainly dont feel the need to state things to gain praise.
im very comfortable with myself and my views and dont need to be praised or pretend to be something im not in order to get attention from men.

I think people, that we are all missing the point a bit.

Whether we on this forum think that it is or isn't the done thing to talk about a woman like that isn't really the point.

The more important point is that Hira, as a Muslim probably - nay, almost certainly, would be hurt and offended.

It isn't all a man thinks about. Evidently you have some sort of sexual chip on your shoulder because the mention of sex engages you to register it in your mind, causing a false positive. It's how charlatans and tarot readers make their money. We as humans are geared to recognise patterns. You choose sex as a pattern to recognise. Now you do our gender a disservice. Feminism is about the right for any woman to go about her own business and conduct her life in any way she chooses to see fit, without anyone attaching labels to them. A woman who sleeps around, would be seen as a stud if she were a man. It is these gender stereotypes that true feminists wish to be rid of.

BB22 04-08-2009 03:00 PM

To be honest, I just watched the clip all the way through and I cannot really see what the fuss is about. It seemed to me Marcus was talking in a jocular fashion about how a person would behave if a semi-subservient desire to please carried over into a person's sex life. After the initial "turn" in the conversation he wasn't even talking about any particular person.

Further, I don't think there is particular gender significance to it beyond the simple fact that Marcus is a man speaking from a man's point of view. It would be quite possible for a woman to speculate in a similar way. In fact, I have both heard such conversations and even participated in them in a light-hearted way (representing my gender and being the butt of the joke but never offended).

With quite remarkable irony, one of the episodes of Friends following the BB highlights show repeat this morning was on this very topic, deriving some humour from the idea that Joey might "be there" for his partner (you might have to watch it to get the joke).

Yeah, he was being rather crude but I don't see any deeper significance to it.

Once again, I am surprised and slightly amused at the prudishness and widespread righteous indignation on this forum.

Go to any **** club and there's always a few hanging around. Generally ugly though
You are a bigot.
Where did I ever say it was okay for women to talk in such terms? And I don't know why people seem to think that a man who sleeps around is a stud. From my experience men who sleep around aren't respected any more than women who do it

I think people, that we are all missing the point a bit.

Whether we on this forum think that it is or isn't the done thing to talk about a woman like that isn't really the point.

The more important point is that Hira, as a Muslim probably - nay, almost certainly, would be hurt and offended.
well he hardly sat her down and said it to her face.. free speech anyone?
So if he made a racist comment about her, or a homophobic comment about Charlie, or a Brummieist comment about Lisa, or an Irish joke about Noirin...would it be ok if he didn't do it to their face?

Is that just free speech?
Some tit always has to bring race into it dont they...
point being,, he never made a homphobic comment or a racist comment!!!!! here comes the racism bandwagon!
