Yes and no.

Yes most people don't do everyithing their religions say they should or shouldn't, like most people I know are catholics and contraception is against the religion but most of them use it anyway.

But No because as It is against some religions beliefs, in her mind she is breaking her religions rules by handing over contraceptives.

So, you are therefore saying that people should just pick and chose which religious rules they should or should not follow?

I would say If it's against your religion then don't be a pharmacist

Claymores 10-03-2010 11:30 AM

I was refused by the Catholic church to be my girl's sister's son's godparent. Her sister wanted us but I'm an aethiest - at the christening I just stood at the back of the church while my girl became godmum.

Religion suks - as if I'd not help the kid if anything untoward happened to his parents.

well, I am refering to this particular case, I know it is against Catholics rules to use contraception, I think Muslim also. Though it doesn't say what religion this lady was. Every topic involving religion doesn't have to be about christianity LT!

I know, I just thought it may be easier to state. I am however not sure what rules Christians have to adhere to apart from the the commandments.

I cant recall any regarding serving someone with contraceptives for pain relief?

No but nobody is even talking about Christians, whatever religion she was, it was obviously against that religions rules and as I said I can't name the religion because I don't know it!

I am not sure you are right. I think the lady perhaps has got her own religion wrong. What religion do you know that is as up to date as to "ban" adherents from serving contraception for pain relief?

does not make sense and sounds like all the facts were not at the disposal of the DM journo - shock horror.

I'm presuming that the lady buying the pill would also be using it for contraceptive purposes!

I'd prefer it if they were just merged. It isn't a competition.

well, for the religions that don't allow birth control(ie. Catholicism and Muslims) then selling it to people would be advocating it, I would imagine.

I am not a Catholic but there is nothing in the Bible that states this. How many catholic pharmacists do you think there are in the world and how long has the pill been around?

Of course it could be seen as this, most Catholics, lets be honest, are so because they were born into it, their parents were and their parents before them and so on and so on. Not because they chose to be and looked into it and said "This is what I believe, this is for me" This is why they don't follow the rules to the letter. I was born a Catholic and baptised, confirmed etc. but when I started thinking about it for myself, I thought, actually this is a big crock of sh1t, like alot of people I know.

I think if you looked my posts and the other folks you think i am there would be little in common etc. It would not be hard to check and save your posts which are of no interest to anyone.

Enid 10-03-2010 12:20 PM

I think the pharmacist was just throwing her weight around. Thought she could get away with being a bit of a jackass.
