If you have something worthwhile to add then you can post anywhere.

So what is the issue with bringing back old threads.

I have done it my self with other threads, including the Boris Bar thread :nono:
I think you're missing the issue, threads like the Boris Bar and what do you want for christmas are fine because they have relevance and also the Boris Bar thread is a continuing one that's not going to go out of date.

What new can be said about such threads from BB6 as What's on the roof when we found out about 2 months ago?! What is worthwile about adding lolz to that thread?

It's tedious and annoying and perhaps if you ventured into those parts of the forum on a regular basis you might see why it's an issue.

skelo4eva 06-09-2005 07:34 PM

I havnt got a problem with it to be honest

unless the threads are dead.

Unless they're offensive, threads should never be deleted. It's incredibly insulting to delete content that members have put time and effort into.

.

Indeed, and that's quite probably the most tedious thread I've ever had the misfortune of reading in my life. Congratulations.

time and effort for a 2 liner?

CharlotteSometimes 06-09-2005 10:29 PM

Is every post that's ever been made on the entire forum two lines long?

Kore 06-09-2005 10:30 PM

has every post on this forum taken time and effort?

Do you know what?A lot of them are. It's alright if it's suitable like but when you see people just coming along with their constant one liners or what-not.

Like people just post a smilie...or lol.I really don't get the point of it. And like there's stuff posted that could just be u2u'd...baffles me,really does.

Kore 06-09-2005 10:33 PM

spot on lance.

most posts on this forum are just spam

so deleting pointless dead threads shouldnt be a problem. (unless they are ones like boris bar)

lol Someone is getting in Stick's goodbooks.

CharlotteSometimes 06-09-2005 10:40 PM

That still doesn't alter the fact that there are some posts here that members have put a lot of time and effort into. It's fine to be pedantic and point out the obvious, but it's still no reason to justify the mass deletion of every post. Anyway, it's never going to happen. The fact that the threads are still here for all the previous BB's is obviously something the admin and founder-members are extemely proud of. It serves as a good reference point, and the times that I've dipped into the old content here have brought a smile to my face. I'm sure the more senior members hold those threads in very high regard.

Kore 06-09-2005 10:41 PM

lol! whatever sticks says is his opinion, i have the right to agree or disagree. i disagreed with him on some points.. but on saving threads like boris bar i agreed on. lmao

yes but its seriously annoying when pointless ones are brought back... whats the point... theyre over and done with.... nobody has anything else to add to them. and i still dont see what time and effort people put into 2 or 3 liner threads, its always nice to look back at them of course.. but if the dead thread has had its time, it shud at LEAST be locked. so the people who do like to go back and smile at it CAN at thier own will. but the ones that dont, arent forced too when people like Orlaith Rules brings them back with a word like 'Lolz'.

do you get what im saying?

Yeah agreed. There are posts out there that are actually worth the read an well deleting all those wouldn't be justified and well deleting post by post ain't gonna hapen either.:bored:

Well yes, of course I do. I wouldn't have started the thread on the 'Suggestions' board if I didn't. I didn't single any one member out though, as there's more than one culprit, after all. And a private message to admin would've been pointless, as it was necessary to see if the other members thought along similar lines. But there's no time to decide which threads should or shouldn't be locked. It would take admin all day to decide what threads would or would not be likely to get new and valid content in the future. The threads on the BB6 board at the moment are a bad example, but there are bound to be times when old threads could be revived and the debate continued.

Kore 06-09-2005 11:04 PM

simple answer to it all:

anybody caught posting pointless stuff while bringing back an old thread shud get a warning.

3 warnings resulting in ban.

CharlotteSometimes 06-09-2005 11:43 PM

Well yeah, but we don't make the rules.

That's a little pointless, when the original post is just above.

Kore 07-09-2005 02:03 AM

i emphasized the part where you agreed with me. lol

CharlotteSometimes 07-09-2005 01:08 PM

I see it more like the part when the contestants used to reveal a section of the screen on Catchphrase and then make their guess, and Roy Walker would say; "It's good, but it's not right."

Fangz 07-09-2005 02:33 PM

It wouldn't be bad if O_R had brought back one or two, and contributed to them, but he/she/it brought back loads of them, mostly just to say 'lolz'. That's annoying, and makes people new to the forum think we're stuck in a rut.

skelo4eva 07-09-2005 03:57 PM

orlaith_rules aint replyin hehe

it is the right answer. ban them, and those 'old thread reviver spammers' will be gone for good.

cc100 07-09-2005 06:09 PM

have they been banned then?

Fangz 07-09-2005 06:10 PM

No, I think he/she/it just left the forum after three threads about the spamming popped up. Wouldn't you?

ThaGazBoi 07-09-2005 06:13 PM

It is getting a bit to much, Someone could have just u2ued this guy and asked him not to. But i do agree, It shouldnt be happening.

Fangz 07-09-2005 06:14 PM

I U2Ued 'em, fairly politely, and I just got ignored.

Kore 07-09-2005 06:36 PM

if he/she/it does it again, they shud be banned. IMO

~Kizwiz~ 07-09-2005 06:36 PM

I agree.... but will the mods?

Fangz 07-09-2005 06:38 PM

Hmmm...what about admin?

~Kizwiz~ 07-09-2005 06:40 PM

Lets just see if she/he posts again!?!?!

cc100 08-09-2005 07:37 PM

i dont think we should be getting personal.
