I was right first time then!

And besides you can't have an age limit that specifies people that could pass for that age - that's ridiculous - lots of people think that about themselves doesn't make it true! Either they are or they aren't! Simples!

No it's not riddiculous. It makes perfect sense. If you can pass for 16/18 to the extent that nobody found out you were younger, then you are obviously mature enough to meet the minimum level of maturity that the admins and mods of a forum want to maintain.

It makes perfect sense.

No you weren't, I was pointing out that I said I'd agree to an Over 16's restriction, but one that allowed people who acted 16+ to pass.

You were assuming that everyone that was an age [say 14] would say 'I think it should be 14+', so I was pointing out that you were wrong.

And of course you can.

If most people assume/believe that someone is older than they really are, or act older than they really are, then how else would they know otherwise?

Nah.. if the forum was 16+, we have no way of actually knowing if a member is 16 or not. But there would be less rules as officially the forum does not allow children. So if they could pass for 16, nothing we could do about it really...no way of knowing.

You said over 16s because you think you could pass for that - so that you would be allowed on the forum! I was pointing out that that was very self-serving of you - that 13/14 year-olds would say 14+ so that they could access the forum! Your first comment that said you were 15 implied I was wrong because you weren't 16 and therefore not looking after your own interests - but I wasn't wrong because you think you would pass for 16 - so therefore you were looking after your own interests! That's all I was saying!

Fair enough then. But I don't think I would pass, I know I would pass.

Jack's one of the more mature youngsters here. So he can stay whatever. And Jords, Harry and Braden. There are exceptions.

Sticks 31-05-2010 04:33 PM

If I were to add any rules, I probably would bring in a rule against discussing politics and religion, as from experience elsewhere they engender a lot of heat and people get passionate about them.

On the science based forum I am a moderator on, we have just such a rule with a few exceptions but even then these exceptions are closely watched by the mods.

Also I would bring in a life ban for those signing up to more than one account, especially if they are doing it to get around a suspension or ban. On the other forum we call that sock puppetry.

Thanks Sticks and now onto the weather...

That is just silly. I like making Theists look like phools.

Well I addressed the question in the OP based on my experience from elsewhere.

There are some rules there that I would not bring here, as they are not appropriate, such as those concerning what we call "Against the Main Stream" when posters try and convince us that accepted science is wrong on a point.

What an absurd suggestion. Heat and passion in the Serious Debate forum is a bad thing now? That's what it's all about. I have very, very rarely seen trouble between members debating if Christ really did fly up into the sky [lol] but plenty in General Chat, Chat & Games and ... well ... all the other sections really.
