Yes Sherlock it is, but why is it associated with a picture of a stadium. Unless we've gone in some time warp.

Not at all. There would be no need to make such stuff up.

Miss Ivy Balls 28-07-2010 06:36 PM

I've just Googled it. It is Olympics for athletes.

You sure? You'd maybe get away with more? Maybe I'm barking up the wrong tree but you confuse me something terrible! Sometimes you have me shaking my head in disbelief at your dumbness and other times you come across as very intelligent? Hmmmmm :)

That is because I am intelligent at some stuff.

I would know stuff you don't know and vica versa.

Why have they started building it now if it isn't until 2012?

I suppose it will take quite a while to build?

Love all of that kinda thing.... desolate places that once were inhabited or used by people and now nature is gradually taking control.

Kerry 29-07-2010 12:43 AM

Yes love it and have taken many a photograph

James, have you looked at some of the photos on that site? Some of them give me the shivers!

It's therapeutic for me in a way: to see that we're just a tiny piece of the great power of life on Earth, you know? That eventually we have to succumb to it's force. Plus I think that buildings in general are monstrocities and would much rather see a field or a wood than something created by man.

I get what you mean, in a way, its similar to looking at old ruins, except these arent so old, it's like a view of what the world will be like once were gone, the Earth will forget us

But what was it about ancient architecture that made them so beautiful? You don't see ugly castles or tombs or whatever. Have we become lazy or just apathetic towards the beauty of nature, creating rotten looking things all the time?

Yeah, once you start looking at them, you can't stop.
I think if I did it, it would have to be with quite a few others.. feel a bit safer from the ghosts then. hahah

Some beautiful photos on that site Lee. Think they'd mind if we posted some of our favs on here?

Lee. 29-07-2010 08:57 AM

I love anything to do with the Titanic Thomas.. but it's a different feeling of sad when I see photos of it. It's not just surrounded by death, but by tragedy too, unlike a hospital, you know?
I'm planning on going to Poland next year and feel whilst there, I should really visit Auschwitz, but I'm not sure if I could! I'd imagine it must be an overwhelmingly sad and poignant place to visit!

What is sad about Auschwitz?

They obviously get into these places illegally, right? They're hardly tourist attractions anyway!

Well, they were trespassing, so by that definition they can't claim copyright on the material they gathered from the place, including any photography.

Ok, that was waffle, but it sounded logical enough, right? lol

Hadn't a clue. Sorry I didn't. Not the foggiest.

This picture is rather creepy:

You first... i'm still browsing

setanta 29-07-2010 09:23 AM

The mortuary stuff is freaky, with lists still on the walls and stuff. Shiver me timbers

setanta 29-07-2010 09:36 AM

What I find really interesting about this site is how different people view the same place. I mean, quite a few of the members have visited the same places and yet their photographs can sometimes be quite unique.
