Yeah of course! The more the merrier Ian! As long as she's willing to partake in some strenuous happy dancing with a couple of mad Scotspeople..

Wait a sec... is she Scottish herself?

InOne 01-09-2010 02:52 PM

ohhhh Ian, I need you to name me some known Scottish Whiskey in Scotland we don't have in England but you have there. Cos they were really nice. Like a smokey flavour

Hmmm might've been. Just sorta asked for one I didn't know the same of lol Does that have like a smokey after taste? I know one I has was Highland Reserve but that just tasted normal, so wasn't that

Malt Whiskey isn't a brand..it's a type there's loads and loads of them though. Would you recognise the name if you heard it? If not you're going to have to come back and work your way through them all! :D

Anything from Islay will give you the smoke/peat/iodine hit Joe..........but a tad expensive - Lagavulin, Ardbeg, Caol Isla, Laphroig. Bowmore is about bottom of the list but available probably in Yorkie supermarkets. Port Ellen is the most expensive and what I collect (distillery closed) and my most expensive one is a 1971 worth a bit over a grand.

Tell me what you were drinking on your Scottish sojourn that you enjoyed and I can probably think of an equivalent from a different area like Highlands or Lowlands malts. Isle of Jura I think you'd probably like.

Whisky is one of my specialist subjects

Lee. 01-09-2010 03:06 PM

In fact Joe it wouldprobably have been an Islay malt if it had a smokey (peaty) taste..

Bunnahabhian (sp?) and Jura are the popular Islay malts in my pub Joe.. Either of them ring a bell?

InOne 01-09-2010 03:09 PM

Cheers, will have to check them out :D There was just something about that smokey after taste I loved, felt like it gave you a kick lol

And I drank a load of the local bitters as well. Can't really remember their names, although I did end up in the same pub Robbie Burns used to drink in :D

Yup Joe - I used to work in the Scottish Borders and lived in Galashiels and Selkirk at various points.

No, I haven't actually... I've never really visited the borders, only driven through them.

Incidentally, my friend saw Nessie a few weeks ago :D (I'm being serious)

You're welcome.

You owe me a bottle of it then!!!

Usual address. and I would appreciate it next day delivery.

Could also try one of the Chivas specials, like one of the "Royal Salute"s. Used to get them for about £8 a bottle, I know some of the workers over in Kieth. Nice bottle in a bag, in the box.
