Got To Dance was a relative success and is going into it's second series and Million Pound Drop got great ratings for Channel 4.

I like Davina as a presenter and a person, just not on Big Brother.

Hopefully Davina hasn't hurt herself...

Holds for laughter*

IF "the million pound drop is all davina has to look forward too, that does't say much for her.

did you see that show?

srsly...

I'm only counting terrestial TV. I could mention that she did a show called the END - apt title - on MTV about 15 years ago or Gods gift but I was trying not to bring up her horrendous early work.

EDIT: AS for million pound drop. Talk about dumbing down. That show is her level now but a few years ago she'd never have looked at such rubbish.

Nice thread-copy by the way

True.
She is an interviewer and not meant to show bias.
The first time she interviewed makosi was bad.

She went over the top about Sam Pepper just because people of a certain age thought he was interesting. He was only interesting because the rest were boring.

Her crudeness is unseemly for a woman of her age with three children.
Imagine when they grow up and see those BBBM.

She used to be one of the main faces of ITV doing things like Popstars The Rivals, Don't Try This At Home, Streetmate (C4), The Vault, Stars in their eyes as well as presenting big things like The Brits and Comic Relief. She was also meant to replace Fern on This Morning but turned it down because she didn't need the money. Thats not bad going for someone whos shows all fail

She hasn't done much in the past few years because she hasn't needed to, she gets £1m a year for BB. Its no coincidence that when BB gets axed, she suddenly gets the dancing show on Sky and £1m Drop

Well why on earth are you only counting terrestrial TV when pretty much everyone uses digital now? The fact one of her altest successes is on a digital channel hardly demeans the triumph.

And regardless of your personal opinion on MPD, the fact still stands that it was a big success for C4 and Davina, therefore proving that everything she has done outside of BB, is clearly not a failure.

You're right ten years ago she was hot but for the past 5 years she's gone downhill. She even left John Noel cuz she was not happy with what he was getting her and felt Russell Brand was getting preferential treatment but even with that the only thing she's landed is a dance show on Sky. Other than BB her work isnt much to shout about.

+ The Million Pound Drop, which you continue to forget.

Now you're just contradicting yourself, if she was hot property then clearly she must have done something outside of BB, and hosting BB is hardly anything to shout about anyway you can't really go much lower

Terrestrial TV is the benchmark for viewing figures. I dont see too many shows on sky getting 10 million viewers every week.

MPD is dire and will probably end up in an afternoon slot. Thats not much of a success.

You include the likes of streetmate when naming her success. Do you consider these shows to be high up on Davinas CV. Her CV reads Big Brother and not much else cuz there aint much else.

I agree though, hosting BB is as low as you can but that just shows how dire the rest of her work is. She'll be remembered for BB.

MPD got Channel 4 their highest viewing figures in three months. In fact I believe the only show on C4 to have beaten it's ratings since, has been Big Brother. Seems like a success to me.

And to be honest, I don't see many shows on any channel getting 10 millions viewers other than X Factor.

lostalex 04-09-2010 08:41 PM

i don't think that's a good way of looking at thing mr. garvy.

look at HBO in the USA which is a pay channel, and it produces the best shows in the world.

HBO has totally blown yur way of thinking out of the water on this side of the pond.

They plugged the hell out of MPD had it on LIVE for a week, got their most recognisable presenter and it still gets beaten by BB.

But you can't ignore the fact that it was a success for Channel 4, their second highest rated show of the year and has just been picked up by an American channel. It's a success for Channel 4, that much is undeniable.

Lets have this discussion in a years time when MPD is on in the afternoon with repeats in the early morning. Thats where that show is heading.

Patricia4 04-09-2010 08:53 PM

davina should be on jobseekers allowance.

Channel 4 can barely scrape a million in ratings at the minute, they're hardly gonna put their biggest show on in the afternoon.

MPD belongs in an afternoon slot maybe as a lead in for Countdown. Thats where it'll end up.

When Nadia said she was old, bitter and fat. Davina just said, 'you're not old....'

I was like wtf, way to wreck a women who was going through **** already.

CultofSkaro 05-09-2010 08:57 AM

She should be replaced with another Davina, so the 'Big Brother house, this is Davina' thing is still in tact.

She may still be in the running for This Morning as apparently Holly isn't very happy (she misses the folks on X Factor) and still has a year to run of her contract.

You know a female presenter or cleberity is finnished if she is on loose women. It's like a carrer grave yar

She also has a nice steady income with her fitness DVD's. She probably has a fair old wedge salted away for a rainy day.

No doubt she wont be signing on for Jobseeker's allowance if she didnt ever work again.

Niall 06-09-2010 10:33 PM

What the hell has Davina done?! Seriously!!

BB_Eye 06-09-2010 10:36 PM

It's time the girl moved on. She is a leftover anachronism from the 1990's.

See? She is much more restrained here. (still not a great interviewer though)

cub 06-09-2010 11:33 PM

Emma Willis would be the new BB host.

Beastie 06-09-2010 11:34 PM

Vanessa Feltz could be the bb12 host...... lol

You may or may not be true about her, as a presenter, but I think she'll be OK in the long run.

Am I missing the point?
