In another interview, conducted when she had her own reality show, she claimed ex-judge Sharon Osbourne - now helping Louis Walsh - had praised her singing after seeing her perform.

Katie also joined singing binman Andy Abraham on tour after he was a runner-up in the show's second series.

X Factor bosses came under pressure to disqualify her when it emerged she'd signed a US record deal under the name Lola Fontaine.

You are talking out of your arse and if you think Rebeca has a bad voice you are either deaf or have really bad taste in music. Also what does the fact that she is from Liverpool have to do with anything? It just adds to the charm. Do you seriously think the other girls are better... Okay then, clearly deluded :pat:

For good or for bad Cher has been the star of the show so far this year, and Katie has divided public opinion just like Jedward did.

but i dont think they have enthusiam, spark or entertainment like jedward did.

joeysteele 05-10-2010 03:53 PM

There is no comparison at all with Jedward and these 2 no hopers. JEDWARD had massive enthusiasm, energy and determination to be noticed, they have a charisma and personality that pulls you to watch them, 'even' if you aren't keen on them.
They took on everything that they were asked/told to do in boot camp, judges house and the 'live' shows.
These 2 girls showed not one single element of all of those things.

Tom4784 05-10-2010 03:58 PM

Rebecca's a dark horse, I can see her pulling a Alexandra, putting in good performances but largely goes unnoticed until a few weeks before the end. I'd currently say she's my favorite although I'm waiting for the first live show to decide properly.

You think my opinion is wrong, I think yours is wrong  That's all this comes down to.

She's good at putting on this fake voice of hers, but for me it's just a complete turn off. I'd rather people sing with their accents - this is a dig at most of the other acts in the competition and British artists in general, not just Rebecca!

Although my comment was made slightly in jest, where she comes from actually has a lot of relevence when talking about soul music. The origins of this music are a far cry from her hometown. "It adds to the charm"? You may be right there - she seems like a nice albeit timid girl - but this really has no relevence to the soul music she attempts to sing as she doesn't even try to put through her personality into a performance.

I don't really support either of them, but in terms of originality, personality and potential, yes I think they both are. If that makes me deluded in your eyes then so be it. You're clearly deluded in mine too :pat:

I dont get this whole fake voice thing you are on about. She is hardly going to sing in her broad scouse accent is she??? A persons natural singing voice isn't always the same as their actual voice. Think about it, how many singers these days sing with an accent? Put it this way... if you were a singer and had an accent such as geordie, cockney or scouse, would you seriously try to sing with that accent?

Why not?! American artists sing in their own accents so why don't the British? She speaks in it all day everyday so surely singing in it can't be too hard.

It will only sound strange because people are so used to hearing the American accent that has become so standard in the music industry today. So normal that I don't even notice it most of the time either. The thing with Rebecca is that she takes the standard American singing accent even further and actually tries to impersonate a minority accent in order to sound more soulful. Her singing voice sounds more like she's from Chicago or New York, where soul music is said to originate from.

A little bit of trivia for you - in her first audition Rebecca sang "Change Will Come" by Sam Cooke, from Chicago, Illinois.

THIS is my problem with Rebecca and her voice, and the reason why I hate artists like Joss Stone and Taio Cruz (even if they do have some very catchy songs!)

Yes, the thing is though she doesn't sound American at all. You are criticising almost everyone in the music industry for not singing with their own accent. I don't see what the problem is. SHE CAN SING. FACT! Plus what the hell, since when did Joss Stone sing in an american accent!?

I thought Gamu was different. We haven't seen anyone like her in years.

I love Rebecca, but she's from the school of Amy Winehouse, Duffy, Laura White. Not completely original.
