There is no comparison at all with Jedward and these 2 no hopers. JEDWARD had massive enthusiasm, energy and determination to be noticed, they have a charisma and personality that pulls you to watch them, 'even' if you aren't keen on them.
They took on everything that they were asked/told to do in boot camp, judges house and the 'live' shows. These 2 girls showed not one single element of all of those things. |
Rebecca's a dark horse, I can see her pulling a Alexandra, putting in good performances but largely goes unnoticed until a few weeks before the end. I'd currently say she's my favorite although I'm waiting for the first live show to decide properly.

She's good at putting on this fake voice of hers, but for me it's just a complete turn off. I'd rather people sing with their accents - this is a dig at most of the other acts in the competition and British artists in general, not just Rebecca! Although my comment was made slightly in jest, where she comes from actually has a lot of relevence when talking about soul music. The origins of this music are a far cry from her hometown. "It adds to the charm"? You may be right there - she seems like a nice albeit timid girl - but this really has no relevence to the soul music she attempts to sing as she doesn't even try to put through her personality into a performance. It will only sound strange because people are so used to hearing the American accent that has become so standard in the music industry today. So normal that I don't even notice it most of the time either. The thing with Rebecca is that she takes the standard American singing accent even further and actually tries to impersonate a minority accent in order to sound more soulful. Her singing voice sounds more like she's from Chicago or New York, where soul music is said to originate from. A little bit of trivia for you - in her first audition Rebecca sang "Change Will Come" by Sam Cooke, from Chicago, Illinois. THIS is my problem with Rebecca and her voice, and the reason why I hate artists like Joss Stone and Taio Cruz (even if they do have some very catchy songs!) Quote:

I thought Gamu was different. We haven't seen anyone like her in years.
I love Rebecca, but she's from the school of Amy Winehouse, Duffy, Laura White. Not completely original. |
