Gamus bootcamp performance was amazing, it made Louis cry. She sang that song and became favourite, and got tones of views, it was her who made the song go to #4 she sang it last.

Of course her background played a part. Do you even watch X Factor? We all know that 'sob stories' come into play. And she had a 'sob story', hence the 'background' references. Well I remember her audition really clearly, down to the flower in her hair and her mother reminding me so strongly of someone (still can't figure out who it is :conf:). So, from the little we've seen, I'd say she has lots of stage presence. And if by stage presence you mean whatever it is that makes people dislike Katie so strongly and inexplicably - any performer could do without that kind of stage presence. I can't abide either Katie or Cher's image by the way, and I wish they'd leave Rebecca's alone. She had a gorgeous style of her own before the happy clappy fluorescent X Factor styling team were let loose...
