She's nothing like Madonna or Gaga

Tom4784 03-12-2010 03:18 PM

I'm no fan of Cher but it's stupid to say that she won't be successful when chances are she'll be the most successful one win or lose. She pretty much resonates with today's sound and half the music industry wants to work with her already. She reminds me of Diana Vickers who was divisive among the audience but pretty much got offered a deal quickly after getting voted off.

Kazanne 03-12-2010 03:19 PM

Well even if she wins and does a Xmas single I still wont buy it.

No one here personally knows Cher so how does anyone know she's a bitch?

You can't say she's not talented and she's a lot more interesting than any of the acts left.
Would you buy Mary's album. No. Don't say you would cause it'd be a very small minority.
Admitedley Matt's good. But he's boring and I wouldn't pay any money to hear him or see him.
Rebecca again is dull. I wouldn't mind her winning 'cause I do really like her voice but she's got no stage prescence.
One Direction. I don't think I need to say anything about them.

Cher can sing well. Probably not as good as some of the others but then name one popular singer who can really sing? Apart from perhaps Gaga. But bringing it back, I don't think anyone thinks she's gonna be the next Gaga and neither does she.

She can dance and rap and some boy's (including myself) would gladly stick a poster of her up in their room.
She's gonna be successful. End of.

Exactly GaGa made it from nothing, she worked her arse off for years in clubs writing music performing. Cher's gone on the biggest TV show in the country performing opposites, that's not making it from nothing, thats being given a platform which she's gonna fall from.

Shes done stuff before X Factor in build up to now and she is using the show to help her even further and there is nothing wrong in doing that.

She didn't exactly walk into her audition as something so basically she has made it from nothing.

Err no, she's being given it on a plate, if she didn't go on XF there would be no chance in a million years she'd be signed, and I'm pretty sure she did walk into an audition

Mystic Mock 03-12-2010 06:26 PM

because the judges (simon & cheryl) make her out to be this big rapstar popstar.

I dont get what you are getting at, how exactly has she been given it on a plate?

Shes had to work hard everyday to get as far as she has out of 100,000's of people, the whole point of the show is to give people like her who wouldn't have a chance before of getting a break. Stop being so judgemental.

She's been given it on a plate because she's being forced down the throat of 15million viewers a week, credible artists are people who work for years on their music trying to get signed, not taking the easy way out and going on a TV talent show.

Stop being judgmental??? Practise what you preach!

Wtf? So entering a competetion in which you have to compete against hundreds of thousands of people is now considered 'taking the easy way out'. Most of them have worked on their music for years but never got a break so have gone for the show as a last resort to help them.

Do you really think the past few months for all the contestants have been easy just because they are on a TV show?

Yes it is, it's always been considered the easy way out! And Cher is 17 fgs, something tells me she's been working on "her music" for about 6 weeks, its only a last resort when they're on the overs category.

And yes, it has, they've been singing one song a week getting closer to a recording contract while other people who made it into the industry the right way have been working their arse off for years writing music and constantly being turned away, regardless of their talent.

whatever position Cher finishes she will still have to prove herself again from scratch when she releases her own material.

Looking at the buzz she's creating amongst some heavyweight music stars I think she could come out with some very hot material. She's certainly the most relevant of this years contenders chartwise.

Yes, but a school talent contest hardly counts as trying to get a break

It's good practice and shows ambition and drive. She has a passion for music and performing, clearly. Like Madonna did way back.

She will be a pop flop. Not even reach number 20 in the charts.

Last weekend on Rock Week I think there was a sudden realisation that Cher was the Special One. Her energic performances were compelling and stunning. The contrast with Becks who was cemented to the spot and Matt who, though vocally brilliant, was still predictable was telling.

ElProximo 04-12-2010 12:52 PM

She has some potential as a recording 'artist' character to sell some crap to chavvy little sisters. up-n-coming sparkly adidas little sisters who have not yet started getting pregnant by nigerian gentlemen.

but other than that she isn't doing anything beyond a few days of illegal downloads and selling soda on the X-Factor tour.
After that she will go back to theater and train for a while and land some decent (though not amazing) roles here and there or even something like Jesus Christ Superstar or even some Evita type thing somewhere.

Most of us won't know about this unless we were seeing that play and go 'oh that girl was in X-Factor once.. wasnt' she?'

She will marry some not-poor but not-rich entertainment type (if not Simon) and be a housewife and mom.
OK.

AJ. 04-12-2010 01:12 PM

The sad thing is she probably will be a hit :bored: She could stand on that stage and sing bob the builder & most of you lot would still think she's the best thing ever, so sad & even sadder is that alot of you vote because you think she's fit.. X factor is a joke.

MrWong 04-12-2010 02:03 PM

Who's said Cher's going to be the next GaGa/Madonna?

The X Factor doesn't produce acts like that.

She'll definitely be the next UK urban/pop act and may even get the chance to work with artists like Will.I.Am. Even if she leaves the comp tomorrow.

Not bad for someone who's been denigrated in the gutter press on a daily basis. She'd have walked this comp if the press had been on her side.

Let the Liverpuddlian Lampost or Mr Beige be stuck with the insipid Syco contract. :elephant:
