No, James admin :)

He'll flop, male winners never do great on X Factor.

Kerry 12-12-2010 11:51 PM

Still want to know how old James is.....

Theres no set rules though. It's like saying 'oh it never snows in October' but it sometimes does. Who knows??

Sorry I was too vague. I meant that they all had 1 real good quality about them but Matt has all 4 which of course will broaden his appeal.

It wont be a summary because somebody who has a small fanbase, average voice, ugly and not consistent will not do well at all LOL.

Jords 13-12-2010 12:00 AM

I do think people prefer solo female artists to men though, on a whole.

It's just simple inductive reasoning. It may not be impossible for Matt to get a long-lasting career out of the X-Factor, but the chances are he won't.

InOne 13-12-2010 12:08 AM

There is no place in the charts for him. It's all about solo females these days.

He is nothing like past male winners, there is something different about Matt,i can't quite put my finger on it (unfortunately, lol) ,he has a passion and emotion ,he doesn't just stand there and smile,he is musical, and has a raw talent about him,he is more than just a pretty face,

Mystic Mock 13-12-2010 12:14 AM

he wont be the only one this year as rebecca is to old fashioned, although america will love her style of singing.

one direction will bomb the worse out of the final 4 this year, there like old take that and boyzone mashed in with justin bieber, and you know how in the old style boybands and justin bieber are?

:nono: Rebecca can do soul, jazz, pop, RnB, heavy rock....ok maybe not the last one. But she also has a voice thats very well suited to dance/club music. She's very versatile and has many options open in terms of what kind of album she could make.

Go listen to the club remix of her old vocal track in the music forum. Nothing old fashioned about that.

Ryan57 13-12-2010 12:39 AM

Hope he doesn't.

It's rare I vote on reality TV shows but, tonight, I picked up my phone and voted three times. That's how much of a fan of Matt I became.

It's because they've all been generic, a jack of all trades but a master of none. With Leona & Alex (moreso Alex really) they become known for signature sounds and such. None of the male winners really have that outside of doing anything decently. Matt doesn't buck this trend at the moment.

I don't think she will, If she wants to be album based then she could do the retro style soul but she's also shown an aptitude to dance music so there's potential for a singles based artist too.

I reckon about the 20 years mark? (Sorry James if that' way out, only a wee guess).

I think Matt will do okay. I don't think he'll have anything like the success of Leona, but I think he'll tick along quite nicely. I have only ever voted in the XFactor shows for Will, and then bought when he recorded. The only other one I have voted for was Matt this year.

Seeing the voting figures for him week after week makes me think he already has a market out there who would buy his music.

cub 13-12-2010 06:16 AM

I don't think any reality show contestant will last forever. You're only as good as your last record.

Will, Leona, Shayne, Alexandra, Joe ... all their last singles failed to get into the top ten.

Rebecca's style of music is timeless. Jazz and lounge/cool has lasted longer than any form of music, bar Classical. Michael Buble does very well.

I agree that as soon as Justine Beiber changes his haircut One Direction will look dated overnight.

Captain.Remy 13-12-2010 06:33 AM

100% he won't. The man is amazing, get used to hearing this dude because he ain't going anywhere.

Nope, like I said before and I also heard Kerry and kazanne say the same thing, I have never voted in that show before last night but I did for matt, I have never bought any music from an X Factor contestant but I will be buying matts, because there's something special about him.

fruit_cake 13-12-2010 10:36 AM

Matt's reached his peak.. his falsetto is his only selling point and got boring after week two IMO

I agree with this, Rebecca is much more versatile

You'd buy it even if you didn't like the sound of it?

Of course I wouldn't, why would I buy something I didn't like?:conf:

BigBrotherfan4ever 13-12-2010 03:43 PM

I said in earlier post today, i think Matt will do well out of this, i think he will be more successful than most previous winners, with exception of Leona.

Jamietwo 13-12-2010 09:18 PM

i brought same differences album and listened to it in bed dreaming of sean kissing me . I did that for about a month or two, it was quite pleasant.

dunno about matt, but i tell you what when he sings the right song and he sings it well oh my god there was one night i remember when all 4 judges stood up ...bloody amazing

*mazedsalv** 13-12-2010 09:26 PM

You can't see in the future though.

You don't know what will happen. You need to give him a chance... don't paint him with the male winner brush because he could do very well.

To you maybe, but don't think other people see it.

I think it might have been this one.

Beastie 13-12-2010 11:15 PM

It says in The Sun Matt could earn 5 million within the next 12 months! :)

I hope he does well and hope he doesn't flop. I hope he breaks the cycle of the flopped male winners. (Bar Shane who is distinctly average)

Beastie 13-12-2010 11:16 PM

I just hope Simon gives Matt a bit of free reign when making the albulm. If Matt wants to write his own songs and play his guitar, Simon should let him!

which other people? You mean all those people who voted him winner of every show bar one? are those the people you're talking about?

yeah, that's what he needs to do I think Beasty, use this as a big platform to launch himself as a credible artist who writes his own stuff, that will set him apart from previous winners

Yep, it will of been that one that the person above was referring to.

Cheryl summed it up best:

With tears in her eyes, she turns to Dannii and says, 'Wow'.

I'll be buying Matt's CD tomorrow. Shame that 'Just the way you are' isn't on it. As that was another of Matt's fantastic performances, and one of my favourites.
