actually I think the films are set in a different time to the books, coz if you look at the last film, there was all modern cars and stuff when they were in London

I guess the books and films are different entities, the film has changed quite a few things anyway

I got the impression the books could really be set anytime, nothing was mentioned that tied it down to a particular time
