Great Britain has everything really. It does have a lot of fantasic places. People say to me.. a sunny day in Cornwall is a better beach holiday than Spain!! I have been to Cornwall and it's nice down there. Love the beaches!
We have London. Which is like a mini New York. Ok New York is in a league of it's own but if you want plenty of shopping, shows to see and sightseeing architectual buildings then there is your place!! However go to York. Better than overated London ;) There is plenty of countryside. Pubs. Rivers. Boats. Etc. National parks, mountains!! I think most people say they don't like Great Britain anymore because it is getting too densley populated. There is quite a few rough areas. I mean.. I am lucky to live where I live. However 10 minutes down the road it's a rough area. lol So yeah when I can afford to I will get a house/flat in a decent area. I don't think many people care about Great Britain anymore. This is why it's turning more into a ****hole. We are becoming quite weak as a nation with lack of boundaries so any riff raff is let into our community when they havn't paid the price of their mistakes. Or people taking handouts and there you go! I don't mind it in Great Britain at the moment. I can see where Ben is coming from. I think the UK is gradually getting worse but there is still plenty of great qualities to it! Not sure if I will be here 10, 20, 30 years time. I might have to emigrate to Australia/New Zealand or something which I wouldn't mind. You get rude people everywhere. I think people are better all round in other countries. Is the UK the worst place for the type of people we have? I am not sure. Home is where the heart is. I will always have a soft spot for where I have been brought up and will probably always want to come back to the place. I think what Great Britain is missing out on is culture. For England we don't have a strong English culture anymore apart from your local Fish and Chips. Or the Royal Family. Which I don't mind but I wish it could expand it's horizons. |
This thread should be What puts the Great in Great Britian.....The problem isn't in the country it's with people not appreciating what's great about it, which is sad for Great Britian...

I have never been to Scotland or Northern Ireland but I would love to go!
I think Wales, Scotland and Nortern Ireland are fine though. It's just that England is getting more densley populated and we can't fit everyone in. Looks like we need to use more derelict land for caravans. Gypsies seem to have common sense. We need a load of caravans nowadays to fit everyone in! |

things I miss about Britain when I'm not there erm...mostly careful drivers
green grass rivers that actually have water communicating in English |
The trouble as i see it with Britain is not what we have got, because imo that is second to none, but we seem to be losing it, or selling it or downsizing it, privatizing it.
It's been happening for years. Premiere League is.nt really British because so many of the clubs are foreign owned NHS can't be afforded so it's changing and not for the better judging the current plans. So much of the things we are giving away won't be gained back which is why i say Im Proud of Britain today, but the Britain of Tomorrow is any ones guess. |

A polish guy said to me at work he doesn't like the UK. I asked him why? He then said "Young people here are stupid". I said.. "do you like me?" he then mumbled then I just walked away...

However someone at my work said to me.. "now is the time to buy". Maybe she is right. House prices are cranking up!! It's because I was taught about money from a young age. I wouldn't say I am tight. I just don't like spending money on pointless things. My mum and dad rent their house so when they die not like I will get the house because it's not owned by us. But me and my partner do have enough money for a deposit to go into a mortgage house! |

I heard that virbal diarrea coming from a lads mouth during the riots. The reason for that crap is the reason i feel less proud of Britain because if you went to Afrika, India, probably anywhere other than America you would not be able to find such rubbish coming out of one single kids mouth. That Drivell is Made In Britain it's ours we own it, we created it, and we ignore it and i'm not Proud of that. |

You know Beastie, there's very good rationale behind what you say! |

However usually you get people who arn't as bright but is a grafter. Then those who are academically clever. The others are just "lazy". I agree that EVERYONE thick or smart needs to contribute to society more. There are no jobs because one of the reasons is that foreigners are getting them. But because they harder workers and will do the jobs English people won't do. However 2 foreigners have just been fired from my workplace because they have been caught doing bonus fraud. Faking signatures from managers so they get extra pay but they have been caught out.. So there you go. There is no stereotype really. There can be **** English people and **** foreigners. But also decent English and foreign people. Problem with the UK is that at the moment.. ok we might be well off at the moment. Well better than other countries but we are WEAK. |

Sounds like as much as a lot don't want it to that maybe Britain needs to become more "PC" again. Limit the amount of crap that we see in television, magazines etc. But for most folk all that is just a laugh. It's just there. We need more community spirit and youth clubs. Something for unemployed or any of these young rioters to do something. Margaret Thatcher is to blame for what has happened. Everything wasn't as bad until she came along. |
I currently hate this place. I didn't realise how nice and good people were in Singapore until I met the idiots at this boarding school I'm stuck at.
