New iPhone 4S, not iPhone 5. trololol

but idc cos they announced new iPod Touch in white. and a new nano like a watch. no shuffle or classic.

Smithy 04-10-2011 05:57 PM

ugh, reading, wtf is wrong with the world :bored:

Doogle 04-10-2011 06:00 PM

They have messed up I think. Bit underwhelming so far but not surprised.

I'm surprised they've kept the Nano though.

7.13pm: Voice is "such a letdown". "We want to ask a simple question - what is the weather like today, what's the upcoming forecast... your phone will figure out what you need and get it done..

"That's a feature we call Siri, it's an intelligent assistant that gets things done."

Scott Forstall comes out and shows off how he can ask "what's the weather like today?"

Ladyvoice thing comes back going to the app for the weather. (Will it have lots of different voices?) He's starting to look like a weather obsessive. (The ladyvoice sounds like something from a GPS.)

Oh, now a clock question. "What time is it in Paris?" (It doesn't say "Paris, Texas? Or Paris France?" Shouldn't it?)

To be honest so much of this stuff as leaked I'm not finding anything surprising.

I'm starting to think the prospect of an iPhone 5 launch/announcement is becoming less and less likely today unless its gonna be todays "Oh and just one more thing.." thing that they like to do.

(I know too much about Apple lmfao.)

Niall 04-10-2011 06:32 PM

They really milked that voice control thing, maybe they're trying to really drag this out so they can surprise everyone with the iPhone 5 at the end. :suspect:

Smithy 04-10-2011 06:36 PM

I dont think they'd announce and iPhone 4S and iPhone 5, that makes no sense to me :conf2:

But new iTunes!

Niall 04-10-2011 06:39 PM

Huh. No iPhone 5. That'll be next year then.

Well it does really. iPhone 4S = new slimmed down, sped up iPhone 4. iPhone 5 = new, beefier iPhone for those who want something more powerful.

Thats how I'd see it anyways. Either way it seems we'll be waiting 'till around next summer at the earliest for the 5.

Smithy 04-10-2011 06:58 PM

omg siri :amazed:

I'm pretty disappointed, I've pretty much just wasted 100 minutes following the live coverage of this event for nothing particularly special to be announced. I had a feeling this'd happen though and I expect quite a few people are going to be disappointed, I could see this backfiring somehow. I own a 3GS and I need to update, so I was hoping an iPhone 5 would be a sufficient upgrade, but now I'm wondering whether upgrading to the 4S would be worth it or not considering chances are the 5 may be released next year.

Siri looks amazing though, that's about the only thing that I'm excited by.

Tom 04-10-2011 07:17 PM

Wasn't the iPhone 4S rumoured ages ago? Can't believe so many people are shocked its coming out before iPhone 5.

The iPhone 4S will be available in either black or white at launch. The 16GB handset will cost $199 and 32GB $299. It will also be the first iPhone to feature a 64GB model, priced at $399.
I think it's defintely worth it

I can't see it being cheaper than an iPod :conf:

Laughing at people expecting huge changes and an iPhone 5. History would tell you that this is an inbetweeny and is the 3GS to the 3G. Under-the-hood changes and software to take advantage of those changes. The iPhone 6 [next year] will be the leaps and bounds that the iPhone 4 did in the design and spec stakes.

That said, I am a little bit dissapointed as I was secretly hoping for a redesigned 5 - how can I pull of my 4s and say LOOK! I HAVE THE NEW ONE AND YOU DON'T! without actually saying it? Lol.

iOS 5 is amazing though and Siri looks very handy.

Niall 04-10-2011 08:54 PM

^It will be iPhone 5 next year. They can't miss a whole number.

Err, no. There was never an iPhone 3, nor was there a 2. The '3G' referred to the network technology. The next iPhone will be the sixth one, so why would they call it 5?
