That was quite eye opening, I had never heard of him tbh, sadly I think things like child sodiers are a lot more prevalent in Africa, in countries like Sudan, Somalia etc., than people often realise

Nice to see Tim Tebow involved as one of the cultural figures

Shaun 07-03-2012 01:06 AM

it's a good cure for depression, really. You can't watch that video and not feel at least a little bit happier about humanity.

Sierra Leone is the only country kids are taught about and even then it's a side topic to the blood diamonds.

I know I shouldn't, but the photo made me chuckle. It reminds me of so many Ghetto photos where the leader poses near his crew, only Kony is proud of damn children.

I thought the same thing.. The Outlawz back in town

He reportedly made annual trips to the Ato Hills in Uganda. He would allegedly ascend to the highest of the hills and lie down in the hot sun for days. He would be covered by a blanket of red termites that slashed deeply into his skin. Oil from the Yao plant was spread over his body. Then he would enter a cave and stay in seclusion for weeks

It said in the video that the pack is free if you can make a commitment of a few dollars each month. I'll be sorting out a standing order later for it, so I'll let you know.

Wow, very powerful video. Everyone should watch this and not be put off by the length of the video. I'm going to sign the pledge and buy the action kit. This horrible man needs to be caught.

Marc 07-03-2012 11:20 AM

This cause/movement is incredible felt myself tearing up whilst watching

LemonJam 07-03-2012 12:18 PM

A really informative "anti-Kony2012" post on tumblr here that kind of puts things in a different light:

http://racismschool.tumblr.com/post/...we-got-trouble

At this point I'm still supporting the campaign, but I'd be lying if I said I didn't have some doubts.

Shaun 07-03-2012 12:28 PM

There seem to be quite a few hesitant to support the campaign, or who're satirising how widespread it's become. It seems to have been painted in a very simplistic "good vs. evil" light which I suppose is just too blase for some of the more self-righteous.

King Gizzard 07-03-2012 12:31 PM

when I first saw it I must admit I didn't like how it was called Kony 2012, alot of people who've asked me about it immediately thought it/he was good because he was in the title

Brother Leon 07-03-2012 12:31 PM

I feel the guy needs to be punished, death even, but I was never going to buy the things being offered and set it as display pictures etc.

There are so many other suitable causes aswell. The world can be a pretty ****ed place.

Novo 07-03-2012 01:11 PM

Imagine if his name was Edward or George this whole campaign wouldn't exist.. people just love the name " Kony "

Ammi 07-03-2012 01:40 PM

My internet's running too slow to run it, after being reconnected, ...I'll try again tomorrow

Is there another link..I could try that?

...found it..I'll try that

Kazanne 07-03-2012 02:04 PM

Just watched it,those poor kids,I will definately be doing what i can to help.

Ammi 07-03-2012 02:36 PM

I was privileged enough to have met orphans who have escaped similar lives and are 'healing' through music and dance, unfortunately their parents and siblings were not so lucky. I can say, hand on heart, that those young people, as young as 10 years old are the most inspirational people I have ever met.....with everything they have suffered and endured...every one of them had complete faith, trust and love for everyone they met...the only thing on their faces was a huge smile....and they would hug...everyone.
..they are the lucky ones..I will pledge...but my only worry is that there are many 'Kony's and it will still go on

MTVN 07-03-2012 02:39 PM

I'm a bit sceptical of entrusting and supporting the Ugandan military with this if I'm honest, they're no stranger to carrying out atrocities themselves :/

Jords 07-03-2012 03:00 PM

They are making it a very 'positive' operation I believe. Make Kony famous, call it Kony 2012, use celebs to spread the word. It has a gloom and doom core but they want people to get excited by the campaign and support it rather than feeling depressed and meh.

If he is captured its has a greater sense of victory for everybody. A different approach from the normal negative vibe attached - a very clever tactic and I think its great.

Lets catch Kony.

Lee. 07-03-2012 03:08 PM

The "cup's half empty" brigade will always look deeper into this kind of thing than is necessary and try to find sinister or evil motives for the good work done by them.

Harry! 07-03-2012 04:12 PM

I will join the campaign and on the 20th April I will put posters round my city. Even if you do not buy the posters from the shop you can still print them off from home and distribute them that way. You are still supporting the cause and that is the most important thing. He needs to be caught and brought to justice.

CharlieO 07-03-2012 04:14 PM

Just managed to view the video. Very inspirational but can't ignore the bias within it. There will be other factors in the matter not known by us or even him.

Though I still believe in the cause and like the whole coming together as a community with it. I wish I was in a city to do the night thing.

Samuel. 07-03-2012 04:26 PM

Quite a few people talking about it at college. Amazing how fast stuff like this spreads. The internet >

Niall 07-03-2012 04:33 PM

Hopefully I can get the action kit. I really want one of those bracelets and some posters to put up around the school and stuff.

Roy Mars III 07-03-2012 04:39 PM

A very good and powerful video. The only real problem is that the Ugandan army itself is known for looting, killing, and raping innocent people as well.

Roy Mars III 07-03-2012 04:52 PM

sadly, most have not, even though it's been going on for twenty years.

Me. I Am Salman 07-03-2012 04:53 PM

Will definitely do my best to promote awareness. Gonna put posters up everywhere but one thing and I'm serious, will I get fined by the council?

He's ******ing raping my news feed and everyone needs to calm down and stop acting like they've been apart of this 'movement' for years when half of them are just on a bandwagon trying to keep up with the latest thing to complain about.

But this made me laugh;

Shaun 07-03-2012 07:57 PM

yeah raping newsfeeds is so much more annoying than raping children

Brother Leon 07-03-2012 07:59 PM

The memes I have been shown

I'm going hell :(:joker:

Patrick 07-03-2012 07:59 PM

'Kony's sound wen u get to know him LOL.

rk3388 07-03-2012 08:00 PM

invisible children is misleading
Raise awareness for the cause, not for the organization.
It would be smart not to donate through them.
last year they only actually used 30% of their profit for the cause, and a lot of it was just for campaigns to support the military..

Patrick 07-03-2012 08:05 PM

So, Peter Pan can gather a child army and that's fine. But when a black man does it....

Kizzy 07-03-2012 08:08 PM

Why did fonejacker just pop into my head...if you want to raise awareness make a poster, dont buy one.
