It's odd that the BB crowd doesn't always seem to be representative of the public vote as it used to be pprior to last year's BB show.

I's put that down to some sort of skewing of votes via Facebook, because I couldn't understand how anyone could have actually liked and supported the insufferable Aaron.

When BB stopped accepting votes via Facebook, I thought that must be the reason, but now I really don't know why things have changed.

I just hope the crowd is representative of public opinion on the Julie question, as I wouldn't know what to do with myself if she actually proved to be popular!

I think this has more to do with it being a vote to save rather than a vote to evict rather than the vehicle used for voting. Had last year been a vote to evict, Aaron would not have made it more than a few weeks. He was very polarizing -- both the most popular and most unpopular housemate. So the boos made perfect sense as did him winning. We did not see this effect quite as much in this year's BB because there were more two person evictions where the impact of vote to save is much reduced. IMO

It seems obvious now that you've explained it.

I thought they'd introduced the vote to save system just to make more money from voters' calls and hadn't thought through the other implications.

I don't think they should be banned but I think some control is required over them.
As it is, they are so far removed from what they chant and how the real important people who actually vote do that it is in the main, the crowd themselves who look petty, childish, ridiculous and irrelevant.
