the dog one is ridiculous because dogs actually are a certain gender.

if you get a persons gender 'wrong' it's because they look like what you thought they were. You might accidently keep calling them the gender that they aren't, because you thought that's what they were. It was a stupid thing to say because dogs don't have 'long hair if they are a girl or short hair if they are a boy!!!!!1' they just look like a dog...

you call the dog a girl or a boy because you just assume. Maybe because you have a pet of that gender...

As for the 'people with vaginas', again that was just beyond stupid. Yeah okay, some girls with vaginas are trans/cis/whatever, but people are acting like it's a crime to assume that 'people with vaginas' are all girls...

i wouldn't normally justify myself for something so stupid, but I don't like people thinking i'm small minded when there's actually very very little people who actually think like these SJBs do.

The dog one was clearly directed at people who insist on using the pronoun which fits a trans person's biological sex despite that being ****ing ignorant and really rude. We all make mistakes, but anyone that will knowingly continue to call someone 'he' or 'she' when they wish to be known otherwise (for example people that called Luke A 'her' or Nadia 'he') is a dick, and there's no justification for that. That's obviously what that post was about...

I see nothing wrong whatsoever with the non-binary genders petition though :umm2: and a little off-topic but I'm not sure if it was posted on here recently but Facebook has announced that people will soon be able to choose a large number of non-binary terms, so if a ****ing social networking site can lead the way, I'm sure the American government can follow suit (like other international ones have)

i'm ambivalent about the gender thing :laugh: i do generally believe people who refuse to identify as male, female or trans (or anonymous) are just trying to be a bit special, but i don't really care.

like, biologically, there is nothing else. there's no "i have no gender". i think it's just trying to attach parts of your personality (uncertainty of identity; sexuality; body dismorphia) to your genitals when it really shouldn't matter :shrug:

I see it in a different light though. I mean homophobes say that homosexuality is an act/choice even though we all know it's not. My point is that because we don't have that other person's experience, who are we to judge, y'know?

Gender is an entirely social construct anyway. Sex isn't. But gender most definitely is. It's completely logical to me that there's a spectrum of gender identity, I mean humanity is wide and diverse in every way possible. It makes sense that that goes for gender too. I seriously doubt all 7 billion humans on this planet fit into the binary we have now.

You really can't see the problems with having specific toys for boys and specific toys for girls? The Barbie dolls and dolls houses for girls because that's your role as a woman and here's some action figures and cars for you boys cause you need to 'be a man' and be strong and authoritative? You don't see the issue with this kind of social conditioning?

I get that there's some things in this thread which are quite complex and hard to get people's heads around but surely to most people they can see the issues with having gender specific toys?
