Donations are fine, but no two tiered forum.
Perhaps donations could be kept anonymous as well.
No shame in being skint but no need for people to know either.

There is not one post/comment in this thread that would suggest you do pay to come on here, if there was a VIP Subscription feature it would be optional, for members that wanted to pay for it, that is all.

I'm on another forum where like 85% donate for coloured names and GIFfy avs and I'm in the 15% that does not pay and do not feel lesser at all.

Well I would say between £80 and £120 per year, and that's not even counting the forum server cost.

I'm not sure if it had already been said, what about users bars too so it's more obvious who the staff and mods are? the vip's could have them too, like these but maybe nicer, below your username?

Yes, BUT THIS SITE ISN'T FREE. If we cut all spendings from the site we couldn't have:

• A proper domain (It'd have to be a domain like thisisbigbrother.freeforums.free.com
• The website and forum on the same host (They'd have to be seperate websites)
• Many other things

And:

• It'd have a limited amount of users allowed
• It'd be cluttered with adverts
• Hard to find

This site wouldn't be here or have the visitors it does if it wasn't for the owner starting it and financing it for over 10 years, then James constantly working to keep it running, upgrading servers I could go on and on, of course member's keep the place busy and play a massive part in making the forum what it is, but to discredit James and Mark is just rude.

Also yes you could make your own forum for free and put up with advertising that you have no control over, limited access to adding all of the addons and modifications that forum members are always asking for and no way to prevent server crashes and errors because you don't have any control over them either.

the facts are, this site would be nothing without the members, in turn not here with out big brother, yes the owner started the site, if he has a problem funding it then let him raise this issue, also I have not knocked the work james does!

Obviously I'm not against contributing towards the forum through donations, I just think the whole "VIP" thing is tacky. I feel the same way towards the sad-acts who pay a bit extra so they can sit behind a rope in a nightclub, thinking they're amazing because they got a free bottle of piss to drink.

Maybe under a different name, or no name at all, it'd be fine, but I see no reason why someone who's paying a bit would be called "very important" whilst everyone else is just evil leeches using it for free.

Members would be a bit pointless if there was no forum :facepalm: if James wasn't here to keep the forum running and Mark wasn't funding it there wouldn't be a forum.

And no one said there's a problem with the funding that's you jumping to conclusions again.
