All she had 'flung' at her was the séance thing and her DR conversation and plan being revealed and then Helen and Kim calling her out on it afterward.

So yes I disagree that she is one of the housemates with a lot thrown at them

Jale
Chris
Danielle
Marlon

All had a **** load of stuff thrown at them by BB and the housemates.

But she's onlaay ATE TEEEEN!!!!!

All 18 at the time of being in the house, never noticed them getting more credit than others.

That's not why she had a target on her back. That was because of the various bits of footage being shown to the other housemates. Something that has happened to her more than any of them in the last couple of weeks.

And as I said, had a guy done what she did, he'd have almost certainly been cheered on.

And Judi James coming in to provide the language with which HMs could use to launch further attacks. She's also been up for eviction, had a hostile crowd reception and Helen ranting at her whilst supported by Kim... Despite this she has not broken at all. That takes some strength.

I don't think Chris has had much thrown at him to be honest. Jale? I agree. Danielle? Only in the last couple of days. And she was much more a shrinking violet in the face of the attacks on her. Ashleigh proved to be much more resilient. And Marlon only had a bad time in his last few days, and he spent most of it just doing push ups from I can gather.

None of them had anywhere near as much as Ashleigh thrown at them.

Of course they never, Ashleigh has practically survived the apocalypse in there :)

Okay, no more going around the houses, no more being vague, please list as concisely as possible in bullet point form every single thing Ashleigh has had thrown at her that HASN'T affected the others? :)

andybigbro 19-07-2014 05:48 PM

I agree with Josy's points and I'm a fan of Ashleigh.

She doesn't deserve any more credit than the other housemates, her age is irrelevant. She's an adult and like the others can handle herself.

Also what has she had thrown at her that's means she deserves credit? :conf2:

Of course she does if more has been thrown at her than the others.

I disagree with you entirely. When we judge how mature a person is we must take into consideration how old that person is obviously.

We are impressed by people who write symphonies. We are even more impressed by Mozart writing symphonies at the age of 9.

Why people think age doesn't come into how we judge people is beyond me.

Yes because Mozart was a CHILD. Ashleigh is an ADULT, the same as Helen and the same as Ash etc.

She knew what the show was about and the tough times, if this was the case 18 year olds would not be allowed to enter. Her age is not relevant, and she should be treated like everyone else.

Everything affects others. But clearly she was the one who had a target put on her back after the seance and then moreso after footage being shown of her. She was also up for eviction after having heard a hostile reaction from the crowd and dealt with being the most likely to go very well. All of it when combined is a lot to deal with it.

:umm2: umm Jale was up every week. Ash was booed immensely.

Helen is 9 years older than Ashleigh. She's lived as an adult for a much longer time. Do you expect an 18 year old to be as mature as a 48 year old because they're both ADULTS? Do you really think it's irrelevant?

Yes it is relevant. Age was relevant to Pauline behaving the way she did. It made her behaviour all the worse because she was in a position of authority because of it.

Footage shown of her bitching - like half the house.
The seance - lasted about 10 seconds and brought that on herself when she was seen lying through her teeth.
Up for eviction after hearing a hostile reception? Welcome to Big Brother, 90% of housemates deal with that.

Has she been singled out to receive that? No, that's what BB has become.

They all deserve credit for going into Big Brother. Ashleigh has no more to cope with than anyone else, free pass or no free pass.

Yeah this is the basic point I've been trying to make throughout the thread they have all had things to deal with throughout the show and all deserve the same credit, it's obviously difficult in there they are all alienated from the outside world and so on.

No, because at 18, you're treated as an adult and are viewed as being old enough to deal with situations. If an 18 year old committed a crime, they would get the same sentence as a 48 year old. Because as an adult, you are treated the same.

After BB deliberately selected who would be "murdered" and focused on her conversations. They then set the seance up for her to be labelled all sorts. An then when it didn't result in the bust up they wanted, threw more at her the following week as well.

Yes and in combination with other things going on, she dealt with it extremely well. Just like Hazel did every week last year.

When it comes to punishing certain crimes, the judge would actually take the age of the person into consideration, obviously. And equality before the law doesn't mean you don't recognize that a 48 year old is going to be expected to be a more mature person than an 18 year old.

Yes but saying they all do without making any distinction between what some of them have been through and what others have not is vacuous. clearly someone like Freddie during BB10 went through a tougher time than did Yorkshire Dave who came in late and was treated well. And whilst I do think it's been more equal here than that example, Ashleigh has been through a lot in the last 3 weeks.

Yes, but you're not making distinctions. You're just saying "They've all been through it" as though they are all having exactly the same experience. Clearly some people are having to cope with more than others, and Ashleigh in the last 3 weeks has had more to deal with than most.

Jale was given the killer nomination, faced eviction every week, picked on by Helen, Pauline and Toya, she was isolated and bullied by Helen who actually received a warning about her behaviour towards her and for the first couple of weeks barely any of the housemates would even talk to her.

Chris was isolated when he first entered because Pauline spread around what he said on his VT.

Danielle was turned into a timid little mouse due to her argument with Helen and then all the tasks that were targeting her and also the targeting of her by Biannca from the minute she entered the house.

Christopher was picked on by Toya and Pauline, reduced to tears because of both of them, faced eviction for a few weeks in a row and was chosen to face it again by Matthew and Toya.

He was okay after a few days. Hasn't had to cope with much since imo.

Yes and imo she became a shrinking violet, hence not being as strong as Ashleigh.

Yep, I've conceded Jale had it tough and I think Christopher did too. But I think over the last 3 weeks the person who has had the biggest target on her back has been Ashleigh, and she's actually grown in stature in the house rather than retreat into a shell. She's a tough girl. Why is this so difficult for some of you to give her credit for?

And I disagree with that. I also said I do give her credit but not any more than anyone else in there and don't see why anyone would.

Anyway good discussion but it's going round in circles again just like the fix thread you made about the producers creating Armageddon to get Ashleigh out of the house.

I'd give Jale more credit than any of the others for what she went through over the first 2 weeks and how she handled it. And it does seem to me with her closest friends leaving, the hostile response from the eviction crowd, the seance task and what happened the following week, that Ashleigh has had a lot more thrown at her over the last 2 or 3 weeks. That's not to dismiss claims of Marlon and Danielle having it tough as well. But you can't argue Mark or Winston have

No, no and no. The pass hasn't made her life easier. For the first couple of weeks the killer nomination actually worked in Jale's favour because of sympathy vote. People have done nothing but moan about Helen's pass.
