Perhaps the problem is more that you should be accountable for your actions rather than needing to know who exactly has infracted you...

Right ok, well as far as I'm aware, infractions are only given when the member being targeted has reported. Unless it's an obvious targeting situation.

I don't care WHO it is, I just want to be able to explain myself.

Well if I aim something at you, for example, I should only be punished if it was you who reported me. :eureka:

Thats how it generally is. Unless it's an obvious targeting situation.

But if wee feel the need to infract were we see fit, thats down to us. If people have a problem, then message a mod or admin and it will be discussed further in the towers if need be.

andybigbro 01-04-2015 05:11 PM

Also on a side note, we don't go infracting people for fun. :joker:

It's just something that we do in order to keep the forum pleasant and readable.

I know that it's not for fun, it's probably really boring. I would hate to be a mod and have to handle a report in a Rachel Rice Fan Club or something, I couldn't be bothered to read it all and figure out the true context unless it was blatantly obvious. The thing is, that is partly the issue with infractions being taken out of context, it's probably hard for someone who doesn't know the inside jokes etc.. to make proper judgement. That is why we should be able to explain ourselves.

You can explain yourselves, but us mods don't see the TiBB staff return messages, so pm a mod or admin directly and it will get discussed in the towers if need be.

arista 01-04-2015 05:18 PM

"What is the point in this account? It only seems to be used for mods to hide their identity. "

Jess you are being Silly
they work as one

Admin direct them

A great method would be:

"Did you really mean it when you told Marsh he has squinty eyes?"
"No, I was joking, he knows that"
"Well I got a report, it seems to have offended someone"
"Oh sorry, I'll delete it, I won't tell him he has squinty eyes any more"

Dear Jessica.,

You have received an infraction at ThisisBigBrother.com - UK TV Forums.

Reason: Completely nasty and rude comment about another member
-------
Quote:

Marsh has squinty eyes.
How dare you think you have a right to say a member has squinty eyes, there is no need at all for this nasty behaviour.
-------

If you have too many infractions you may receive a posting ban.

All the best,
ThisisBigBrother.com - UK TV Forums

Smithy 01-04-2015 05:20 PM

Tbh I think the infraction system is a bit messy, and I hope this thread stays open so that we can discuss it like adults rather than someone close it because they don't like that members are wanting to have something change

I think the fact that there's no clear infraction system makes the whole thing a bit redundant, someone could get 1 point for baiting and someone else 2 points (because they were given by different mods) and the second person knocked into a ban because of it, I think we should be able to see the amount of points given and there should be a full list of infractionable offences and the # of points given when they're commited

It's really annoying when mods say "if xxx carries on I'm giving out straight bans" in no way is that ever fair and I've never seen it done on any other forums, I wouldn't have a problem with TiBB staff if there was a system like I mentioned before, because then you know even if a mod dislikes you, you're only getting the set amount of points rather than them upping it (even slightly) because they dislike you

I know what I'm trying to say but it's not coming out properly :fist:

Fetch The Bolt Cutters 01-04-2015 05:23 PM

I already said I don't care about my ban, this is not what it's about. :nono:

Locke. 01-04-2015 05:24 PM

p.s I'm not sure what you were actually banned for but you deserved to be for the way you were speaking to Mock a few days back

Yes, because this ALWAYS happens. Its not because for some reason or other a couple of members have to start sniping constantly in decent threads :idc:

We don't have access to the tibb staff account, everything goes automatically through it. We dont think 'oh I want to give someone I hate an infraction but if I do it they will know its me so lets hide'. I get emails when someone PMs tibb staff...but I also get emails from every report that gets made, so I'm sure you can imagine, I have set my tibb emails to go right to spam  I'm not reading through 50+ messages a day full of rubbish

If someone sends a proper reply to the account, james/josy let us know. They do not, however, pass on messages such as 'omgz this is bias, its not fair, X has a grudge' and other crap like that

Shaun 01-04-2015 05:26 PM

Idk why people care tbh

Vicky. 01-04-2015 05:27 PM

And yeah the systems a bit messy, but ANYTHING that requires human judgement is. The only way for it to be completely fair really is to have only one person modding the entire forum. Even a set (3 points for insult) wouldnt work, as then someone could say 'foxysarah is fat' while someone else said 'i hope elproximo drowns in a vat of acid while pins fly into his eyes' and then would both recieve the same points D:

Aha ok I didn't realise this actually because all mail from TiBB goes to a separate folder which currently has 3862 unread messages

Smithy 01-04-2015 05:42 PM

But seriously back on topic can a mod respond to my posts please :dazzler:

I like this. I always thought we were too lax on multis...

Vicky. 01-04-2015 05:51 PM

Anyway, I would be up for a change to the infraction system tbh.

will that help with the amount of mail
you have to read?

Smithy 01-04-2015 05:52 PM

ALSO can we get actual reasons for infractions, I'm reading through my previous ones and the amount "Reason: No"'s is ridiculous, it just isn't that professional, which I think it should be if you're going to bother having a "middle man" which is TiBB staff

Jessica. 01-04-2015 05:52 PM

Thanks to all of the mods who have contributed to this thread, I expected it to just flop but I was pleasantly surprised.

Shame on the derailers. :nono:

There'd be no more complaints too about bias modding, because everything is there in black and white about why you'll be infracted and how harsh it'll be

Yes but theres still the issue of stuff like, lets take the swear filter...

X says 'this is ****' breaking the filter

Y says 'you stupid motherfcking c unt, fcking dickheading wankface cumstain'

Both should get one points? Personally I don't think thats fair either

:joker::joker::joker::joker:

One is just breaking the swear filter, the other counts as breaking the swear filter AND insulting someone, so they should get the points for both things?

Yes but the difference there is that X has simply broken the swear filter, Y would be breaking the swear filter AND attacking another member so the points build up. :smug:

I should be a mod tbh. :idc: Everyone would be getting a dozen charges for one post.

Can you just contribute to the matter at band rather than having a go at everything and anything members post, it's SO irritating trying to have a proper discussion with you quoting every other post just making snipey comments :umm2:

Well the first person would get points for breaking the filter and the second for breaking the filter and insulting someone, is that not how it'd work? :suspect:
