I agree completely with the fact that they have to enforce that the students dress respectfully but the reasoning she has claimed there is disgraceful and disrespectful beyond belief.

....hmmm, I think it's unfortunate that the whole article is focused on male teachers specifically but I do wonder if that's just the slant put on it by the DM and not by the headmistress herself..?...only because I've personally known similar things in newspaper articles where what has been said has been slanted...but I do see the 'distraction' of all teachers taking up lesson time in discussing uniform policy when it it hasn't been or is constantly not followed...maybe the DM latched on to this one male teacher's complaint and took the whole 'male teacher' stance which of course would be a much more 'sensational headline' thing..?...I don't know Bob obviously, I'm just always a bit sceptical of judging stuff like this from media portrayal...

The new rules were introduced after a male teacher complained to the headmistress after being put in an awkward position when he told a pupil her skirt was too short.

You are right Ammi on re-reading that it does seem that the DM have twisted the facts.
After a little dig It does appear that the whole thing started when the Head teacher appeared on ITV for an interview on This Morning because she wants to ban girls from wearing skirts in her school and she mentioned male teachers being distracted which was really naive at the very least. The media ran with it from her TV appearance.
Not the wisest move on her part but the DM did twist her words.

'She explained she decided to take the extreme measure after growing tired of girls wearing skirts that "barley covered their bottoms".

“It’s not pleasant for male members of staff and students either, the girls have to walk up stairs and sit down and it’s a complete distraction," Dr Blencowe added.'

She more or less says the same thing in the Mirror article too :/
