Not in Eastenders but Hayley in Corrie came in as a pre-op and went to Amsterdam or something for the surgery.

I'm sure Hollyoaks has done it at some point or somebody deciding they wanted to become a sandwich or something.

No, the same non-transgender actress.

She did didn't she? Hayley came in as a bit of a joke storyline at first because some characters were trying to match make for Roy and they got on really well. She then told him she was transsexual over dinner or something.

Yeah, but she still had a penis.

He helped her when she flew abroad for the surgery. :omgno:

Apologies Rob, I deleted my post because I assumed you were replying to me, but you said it was a "sweeping statement".

I know LT is not homophobic or Transphobic, but he 'kids' a lot jokingly, and I think his humour has been misunderstood Rob.

I'm aware of LT's wind up sense of humour (now :joker: ).

It's fine Livia, I just hate it when someone preaches that they have the freedom of speech when it's such a horrid remark like Will posted. Saying that a picture of a transsexual makes you sick, when that person probably wouldn't even have realised if it hadn't been pointed out to them isn't freedom of speech. It's a comment meant to offend and hurt.

This is the way I remember it too Rob.

Yeah - The original 'makes me sick' comment is purely despicable.

I understand that Rob. I made my original comment because there is often a discussion on here about censorship and people's right to voice their own opinion. I actually agree with you.

I think it's inappropriate to 'kid' about being transphobic when there are huge amounts of hate crime towards transpeople.

The average person has a 1 in 18,000 chance of being murdered.

For transgender people that is 1 in 12. If you also happen to be black, then it's 1 in 8.

It's not funny, it's not wise, and it's not appropriate.

Marsh. 12-10-2015 09:41 PM

1 in 8 black people are murdered?

Can I see the software you're using to store this data?

I'm sure that LT can - and will - answer for himself, but I will explain what I meant in the post you've quoted and taken me to task for, because you have misunderstood it.

I did not mean that LT was kidding about the actual transphobic comment, but was gently teasing Will about getting so wound up about what some knobhead said AND where they he had said it. At least that is how I perceived LT's comments.

It was LT more than anyone else on here who actually condemned the knobhead who made the Transphobic comment, in fact he 'ripped him apart' by saying that he probably: 'had a dildo stuck up him and was wanking himself off' so don't worry about it Will' - or words to that effect.

Please refrain from trying to make out that I have any Homophobia, Transphobia, Xenophobia or any other kind of phobia - or that I support anyone who has them, because I don't.

I was marching with Gays and fighting for their rights before you were even born, and the only thing I may be guilty of which you continue to misunderstand - is having a sense of perspective AND a sense of humour.

..I don't understand this thread..I mean in terms of LT because his remark was against the person/comment that was offensive..he just expressed it in a light-hearted way...he hasn't got anything to 'answer for'...

..I love it when you direct me ....but do you mean the images of the actors getting along on set or the offensive comment made..?..I understand wht you mean if it's the comment but I also don't think it's essential to post it either because although made by one person, it's surely more highlighting a prejudice shown in general..?..

Let the Young Tibbers LEARN

Marsh. 13-10-2015 04:38 AM

To be fair, the image has nothing to do with anything tbh. You don't need to see what the person looks like to engage in a debate about acceptable language when it comes to transphobia.

If you're suggesting something could be in the image to account for the "Makes me sick" comment, then there isn't.

It's not the image that's "upset" Will. It's the way people talk about transsexuals or any other minority group.

But I knew you had great fashion sense.

But that would be normal in the East End Of London
or Borehamwood

There will always be Anti people
why fight them
let them rot

Marsh. 13-10-2015 04:49 AM

 Yeah, I suppose a link to the article or offending comment would've sufficed.
