Full size pic http://i.imgur.com/B2U1xoY.jpg Show will follow the USS Discovery (NCC-1301)! |

Well... don't like being a naysayer, but I've seen better CGI.
|
I don't think they've even started filming yet, this was probably just thrown together for the reveal, lol.
|
Saw Star Trek Beyond today. Awesome, but not quite as awesome as it could have been. Felt they could have handled Krall a little better. 7.5/10.
|
Official link that I posted above isn't working for some reason, so here's a mirror

Bryan Fuller has confirmed it's set in the Prime Timeline (TOS-VOY), not the Kelvin timeline (ST09-Beyond), which kind of hints that it's not pre-TOS as some are speculating, if it was pre-TOS, it could still be both timelines, like Star Trek Enterprise. Plus the way he words it leads me to think it's not set where it seems to be.
|
It's been confirmed the show will be released worldwide on Netflix at the same time as the US version is released

I hope we see the borg at some point in the new series.

|
It's set 10 years before The Original Series, main character wont be a Captain
Loads more details here |

I think he generally means there wont be as much executive meddling in the show, lol.
|
It sounded like they were going to have more violence and stuff, like an HBO show. But I don't think they'd go down that route (very much anyway).
|
Yeah, Bryan Fuller has talked about the show being quite optimistic, I don't think it will be filled with sex and violence, though I do think we will see some violence.
My main question.... What will the Klingons look like? Given how they looked different in the TOS era, lol. |
Another prequel uhhhhhhh
|
Yeah, I'd have much rather it have gone forward like TNG did, rather than going back to the TOS era again. Hopefully it's still good though. Will have loads of restrictions though, since they can't have enemies like the Romulans and Borg.
|
Hmm, on twitter, Bryan Fuller replied to two people on Twitter who were upset about its placement in the timeline
"All Good Things" Which is A. The series finale of TNG, and heavily involved with cause and effect time travel, taking place in 3 separate time...things. B. All Good Things come to those who wait C. All Good Things come to an end. Given that All Good Things was one of the best TNG episodes, its pretty likely he is refering to that, which means... it might just start off in the TOS era. |

New uniforms! http://i.imgur.com/DbuapmMl.png Logo has also been changed, looks less 'edgy' now https://i.imgur.com/H6LRbANl.png The Discovery itself looks to have been redesigned a little since the first trailer https://i.imgur.com/L6l64yVl.png |
i am excited for this :D

CBS All Access' Star Trek: Discovery has added a captain to its ranks. Jason Isaacs has joined the cast of the twice-delayed Star Trek drama for CBS' digital platform, The Hollywood Reporter has learned. The series features the franchise's Enterprise, now known as the U.S.S. Discovery, and introduces new characters seeking new worlds and civilizations while exploring the dramatic contemporary themes that have been a signature of the franchise since its inception in 1966. Isaacs (USA Network's Dig, NBC's Awake) will star as Captain Lorca, the captain of the Starship Discovery. He joins a growing cast of series regulars that includes The Walking Dead's Sonequa Martin-Green as Rainsford, a lieutenant commander; Doug Jones as science officer Saru; Anthony Rapp as fellow science officer Stamets; James Frain as Sarek, a Vulcan astrophysicist and Spock's father; Terry Serpico as Starfleet admiral Anderson; Maulik Pancholy as chief medical officer Nambue; and Sam Vartholomeos as junior Starfleet officer Connor. Set to recur are Michelle Yeoh as Georgiu, captain of another ship called the Shenzhou; Shazad Latif as Kol, the Klingon commanding officer; Chris Obi as a Klingon leader T'Kuvma; and Mary Chieffo as L'Rell, a Klingon commander. The 13-episode Star Trek: Discovery has already had a troubled road to the screen. Originally set to debut in January 2017, it was delayed to May before being pushed back a second time; CBS Corp. CEO Leslie Moonves noted that the series is now likely going to debut in the late summer or fall. On top of the delays, original showrunner Bryan Fuller exited the series in October, with his longtime collaborators Gretchen Berg and Aaron Harberts poised to take over. Additional exec producers on Star Trek: Discovery, produced by CBS Television Studios, include Alex Kurtzman and his Secret Hideout topper Heather Kadin, Fuller via his Living Dead Guy Productions, Roddenberry Entertainment's Rod Roddenberry, Akiva Goldsman and Trevor Roth. Isaacs, a popular name among broadcast and cable networks every pilot season, counts Netflix's The OA, the Harry Potter franchise as well as Hotel Mumbai and Death of a Stain among his credits. He's repped by Gersh, Silver Lining and Jackoway Tyerman. Hollywood Reporter |

Isaacs will play Captain Lorca of the U.S.S. Discovery. The British actor’s credits include Event Horizon, The Patriot, several Harry Potter films, the Rosemary’s Baby miniseries with Zoe Saldana, and Dig. Current and upcoming projects include The OA, London Fields and Hotel Mumbai. Wiseman will beam aboard the show as Tilly, a Starfleet Academy cadet in her final year of study, assigned to the U.S.S. Discovery. Among the recent Juilliard graduate's TV credits are Difficult People, Longmire and Baskets. Her stage credits include The Octoroon, Therese Raquin (Broadway debut) and The Skin of Our Teeth, currently running at the Theater for a New Audience in Brooklyn, New York. Star Trek: Discovery will be available in countries around the world. |
|
ooh, good visual effects :D
|
Apparently this is the first time they have shot for a Star Trek TV show outside of America o:
The two people in the image are the captain of the USS Shenzou and the first officer of the USS Discovery Also, we're apparently getting footage later today! |
Never watched anything Star Trek related but might give this a go.
|
First trailer here! (Netflix will probably upload it on Youtube later, this is the best I can do for now)
https://streamable.com/pmp54 Also, there will now be 15 episodes! |
Keyart for the show!
https://pbs.twimg.com/media/DAD2telXkAA2hmg.jpg |
Netflix uploaded the trailer!
|
I uploaded the CBS trailer from the previous post to Youtube. It looks like a different trailer?
|
Oh, blocked worldwide.
|
Hmm, the CBS trailer does seem a little different, odd. The streamable link will hopefully still be working
Netflix have set up an account for the show too https://twitter.com/startreknetflix |
Some of the people on that Klingon ship look like Remans, wonder if they are, or if they're just more of these new Klingons?
|
CBS has confirmed that these are indeed Klingons, though given when this takes place the Klingon's foreheads should be like human ones, unless these are (and they have been rumored to be) Ancient Klingons
http://i.imgur.com/rwo8YlAl.jpg I reckon Discovery will be something of a soft reboot that will let newer viewers get into it easily, especially given that outside America, it's gonna be on Netflix, which should be a big draw. |
Unsurprisingly, Trekkies are mad about a number of stuff, mostly about the show not looking like its straight out of the 60s (which is silly anyway, given both ST: Enterprise and the Kelvin both looked more advanced than the TOS Enterprise)
|
Yeah, and the look of Trek changed a lot with the original films compared to the 60s series eg. Klingons, Enterprise.
TV shows can't be judged through trailers anyway, even less so than films because with TV you find out what a show is like by watching the first episode, or the first few. |
Yep, and I think so far they've only fully filmed a few episodes, so there's limited footage for the show still
