You get that glow, that butterfly feeling that never goes away, like the elastic band that binds you together is shortening the closer that you get.

I know this is pretty spiritual **** but I do believe in the whole elastic band theory, which is why long distance relationships never work and you get that gutting feeling when you haven't seen them in a long time - as if the elastic band is breaking.

Hmmm that's just early-stage love stuff though? As you get properly into the guts of loving someone it's not that simple. I do still sometimes get butterflies randomly with my wife but it's not a constant feeling... how would someone live like that?

Anyway, yeah, I also think that's being "in love" and not necessarily the same thing as a "soul-mate". I consider me and my wife to be both and feel lucky to have that. I do know couples who are very very much in love who I wouldn't think are "soul mates" at all.

Id pick Visage

Its not hard for me although there are many people I would go as far as to term friends and possible soulmates.
No hesitation however mine would be Mystic Mock.
My very best friend on here.

Visage however is a brilliant choice you made too.

It does seem like that but someone did a sexuality thread recently and there were a surprising number of straight people

joeysteele 08-11-2015 04:26 PM

Yes I believe in soulmates but I see them as anyone deemed so in any kind of relationship that you have.
Not as to any exclusive relationship, a soulmate to me is someone who can come to know you inside out almost and who you share a strong bond with.

Yes, but I've never met mine yet. I know she's out there. Wish I could find her. :(

Or she find me. :D

Kate! 08-11-2015 04:32 PM

I have a female soulmate and I'm straight but we are almost one person. We know what the other is thinking about.

Yeah I believe in soulmates. To me a soulmate is someone who gets you like no-one else, who has almost the same personality and somehow knows how you're feeling without you even saying anything. I think everyone has that special soulmate out there somewhere, but they might be in a completely different country, might never meet them, might die without ever finding them.

Love is romance? :omgno:

I love my parents but I wouldn't call it romantic love. :omgno:

Natalie. 08-11-2015 04:48 PM

I don't think there's only one person out there for people.
There's people who you can be very close to and are quite similar to you but it doesn't have to be in a romantic way

Yeah I believe best friends can be soul mates too, the way me and my bestie became friends was very much like fate tbh and our personalities are so similar it's almost scary

Kate! 08-11-2015 04:57 PM

Love is...... pain sometimes. I lost 'the one' 5 years ago because it was never acknowledged so the chance went by. Circumstances (private) now dictate we'll never be together but we've acknowledged it now and strangely I feel at peace knowing he exists. Some love is that special.

Yeah this is exactly my answer:clap1:

Edit:Not the part about Gav though:laugh:

Why are people so focussed on the word soul, soulmate is just a term to describe two people who get each other totally, it's got nothing to do with having a soul imo

Essentially the thread really is

"do you think that when you fall in love you will think that you have met the perfect partner?"

and of course the answer is yes

and in some cases it works out like that but in the majority of cases it does not
