Everyone turned on Tiffany because she was acting like an insensitive idiot. Especially after she knew the truth. I strongly disagree that BB is racist in anyway and frankly I'm bored STIFF with the suggestion that it is.

But, over and over again chicken has been used as a racial slur. I know it seems ludicrous given it's an every day item, but there it is. See, everything about racist remarks is about the intention when used in my opinion, and less to do with the words themselves.

Any excuse.Any time there is a person who is not white in the house somebody screams "racist!" When infact there have been very few cases of racism in there.
People have their hand in their pocket on that racism card every time they watch just looking for any slight reason that it might be acceptable to pull it out.

Anyone that sees eating chicken is a racial slur does not understand racism. As a South African ...trust me ...that does not even come on the radar when it comes to racial slurs

being a bit dodgy doesn't warrant being accused of racism though, especially these days where being accused of racism is basically worse than being called a pedophile. it's like saying... oh that guy holding a kid looks a bit dodgy, he might be her father, but even so, let's just accuse him of being a pedophile just in case!

Oh here we go!!
Black people are victimized in the BB house because they're different and what happens?
They get accused of playing cards.

Or those that wished to defend them from the racists are card players too!!!
In order to play the race card you have to be in a "game" of race with other players, no?

You'd think Britain was a society free of racism where everybody lived happily welcoming refugees. Please!!

There are some deep seated serial deniers here. Nothing is ever racist in their universe.
I see you!!!!

I didn't say it did lol I was just saying that it was a bit dodgy :fist: (or would have been if they hadn't actually been eating chicken)

Putting any racism aside for a moment.....do you really believe that John has behaved better than Winston?

Winston simply gave his opinion when forced into it by BB. He was completely respectful. John has proved himself to be a vile and crual person who seems to take delight in ostracising people.

It's actually not a well known stereotype in the UK. I'd never heard of it before and I use the internet! Also it sounds a rather stupid stereotype. I eat a lot of chicken, its healthier than red meat. What's up with chicken?

Maybe I'm naive but I think shouting racism for every little thing is more of an issue than a comment about chicken dinners. Its like looking for a problem that isnt there yet. Just treating people the same whatever their colour is the way it ought to be.

In the USA its used extensively as a slur. I'm not defending it, i'm just saying its there, and combined with John's demeaning intent at the time, it is not beyond the bounds of possibility.

I would take it a stage further actually, and say it doesn't matter a **** what words were being used, John's intention was to put down Tiff and target it her for animosity. Its then up to everyone to decide if he was being reasonable or not.

Don't get me wrong...I think John is a knob. But as a Boer I don't find it offensive when folk talk about the food we eat and I don't know any black or coloured person in SA that would find it racist to talk about what each group of etnicity ate

i think it's specifically fried chicken...because it's originally from the south, and a lot of southern cuisine was invented by the black cooks working for whites...plus because slaves were given the scraps of meat, they tended to deep fry them to make it taste better because they were given the worst foods, so they did whatever they could to add flavor. they fried everything in the left over fat to add flavor. that's basically where all soul food comes from.

but yea, fried chicken is definitely associated with black people.

Yep, I certainly knew about the stereotype and knew what john was getting at immediately.

There is also a well known watermelon stereotype too.

Do you not see anything wrong with the way Tiffany reacted last night? If you had lost someone significant in your life, would you appreciate someone ranting and raving at you? Her race has nothing to do with the group rounding on her, it was her extremely distasteful and inappropriate reaction to someone that was grieving.
