There's mountains of proof, it's been evident from the day they acquired the show that they prefer CBB and thus put more effort into it
- They launched with bloody CBB - They commissioned a summer CBB that no one wanted and underperforms most years but they keep flogging it, all at the expense of a shorter civilian version - They generally put much more promo into CBB than they do civilian, i.e. Rylan announces everything on Twitter versus billboards/bus ads (it doesn't matter if they don't always do these, it's the fact that they ever did) - CBB gets vote to save to protect their precious celebs while civilian gets the backwards system - CBB gets weeknight live feed while civilian doesn't (there is literally no justifiable excuse for this cause I'm pretty sure the figures suck either way) - CBB gets special live shows in cases of surprise evictions or twists, civilian does not. The chances of them doing an Alex and Sam style eviction with celebrities is next to none - They cut the civilian series back to SEVEN weeks to accommodate their prized possession, and don't bother to extend it when it does well despite the fact CBB has been extended under the same circumstances - There's way more updates for CBB than there is civilian ...and so on and so on. I'm sure there's multiple things I've forgotten Even if you subscribe to the notion of 'well CBB's more successful so obvs they care about it more duh', you're missing the simple point that it is basic business to promote things that are underperforming and leave the things that are doing well already to survive on their own. If they put in the same amount of promotion for civilian as they have done for a few of their CBB's, who knows how much better it would be doing? But they don't, they just promote the version that's already established and leave the other one to flag which is absolutely moronic and something no other channel would do (see: ITV2 with Love Island). And they do this because they do not give a **** about civilian People can bend over backwards trying to justify and rationalise their disdain towards the civilian series and swallow C5's Kool-Aid all they like, but the evidence is there for everyone to see and has been since 2011. I find it so disheartening when apparent fans of this show are willing to just roll over and let this **** show of a channel steamroll the original and better version, but that's what they want you to do so I guess all power to them :( |
Well the most recent BB was probably most promoted since about 2010 but I'll give you that it wasn't really from c5 but it's had good media coverage and slightly higher ratings.

Disappointing drop last night.
It got 1.58m incl +1. Some would say that the final of Masterchef which got almost 5m dented it. It was up 30k on last summer, but down 170k on CBB14 first show. |

Ouch.

Oops.I thought this was an 18 rated thread and would be full of filth:laugh:
|
Mess
Could be that a lot of people were disappointed by the cast |
How is that bad?
|
It ain't that bad. People over on DS are even saying Masterchef final dented everything. Still up on last year.
Tonight 1m I think. Tomorrow I reckon 1.7m |
That wasn't a bad rating at all. Friday's are starting to follow Saturday's in being the lowest of the week. Even some Saturday's outrated Friday for BBUK.
1.5m tonight I reckon then closer to 2m tomorrow |

I guess the comparisons should be made for the last 2 summer series for a better outlook, so far: CBB14: Launch- 2.35m 1st Highlight show- 1.75m CBB16: Launch- 2.22m 1st Highlight show- 1.55m CBB18: Launch- 2.36m 1st Highlight Show- 1.58m For Saturdays and Sundays 1st week the last 2 summer series: CBB14: Sat- 1.69m (this was that day when there was so many rows and was highlight advertised) Sun- 1.90m CBB16: Sat- 910,000 Sunday- 1.17m Pretty sure it will beat both of the CBB16 ratings in the next 2 days. |
That was maybe a bit optimistic, but I was just thinking that Friday's don't usually rate that well anymore plus with it not being a live eviction or anything, people probably missed it without caring as much last night - as if it were a Saturday. I hope that's the case, and that tonight rates similarly with then the weeknight ratings being around 2m because I really hope it's way up on last summer.

Celebrity Big Brother: 1.35m (8.2%) inc +1
Not too terrible for a Saturday. Last years first Saturday got 910,000, so 50% up on that pretty much. Highest summer Saturday since first week of CBB14. |
Decent.
|
I'm going to predict 1.70m for tonight.
|
Also interesting that it came 2nd in it's slot beating BBC2, ITV and CH4.
|
Would I be part of the official ratings if I watch it half an hour after its started through my sky planner? I do this fast forward adverts

Not doing too bad, as long as it's up on last years it's really good.

1.5m incl +1.
Really expected more (like 1.7m), so I'm disappointed. It is up on the 1.17m that the first Sunday got last year though, but still disappointed. 1.6m tonight? |
These were the Sunday ratings last year:
1.17m / 5.8% 1.31m / 5.8% 1.55m / 6.2% 1.25m / 7.2% So last night comfortably beat 3 of the 4 from last year. And so far this series has been up on every ep: 2.36m vs 2.22m 1.58m vs 1.55m 1.35m vs 910k 1.5m vs 1.17m |
Compared to last year then that's a strong rating.
|
Nice rise for CBB last night as it got 1.54m excl +1, which would make it around 1.7m incl +1, highest since launch. And for the 5th consecutive night, up on the previous year, which got 1.59m incl +1 on the first Monday of CBB16.
|
1.54 excluding +1
|
Last years got 1.59 including +1
|
the weather would've had a part to play in that as well
|
Celebrity Big Brother: 1.8m (8.9%) inc. +1
Brilliant climb. |
1.8 is a really good figure

Great rating

Channel 5 (exc. +1)
Celebrity Big Brother: 1.46m (7.5%) |
Celebrity Big Brother: 1.6m (8.2%)
A drop but still decent rating. It was tied with last summers first Tuesday show which got 1.59m. Thought it would have been 1.7m with +1 added in to be honest, but I think it was something like 1.64m, so it was probably that. |
the share isn't far off mondays
|
CBB scored 1.5m (7.5%) inc. +1.
Looks like it will probably stay at this level which is the same level CBB16 achieved. It's up on the 1.39m that the first Wednesday of the series last year got. |
1.61m excl +1.
Overnights Twitter page saying it got 1.8m incl +1. |
