"Produced by Warner Bros. and New Line Cinema, the adaptation of Stephen King‘s thriller scored $117.2 million at the domestic box office during its opening weekend and another $62 million overseas for a total global start of $179.2 million.

The movie smashed records for the biggest box office opening ever for the month of September — and has one of the largest openings of the year. It also surpassed 2011’s Paranormal Activity 3 for the largest opening day for a R-rated thriller, and had the biggest start for any King adaptation (which includes films like Carrie and The Shining)"

Just see this.

First film I've watched in ages that genuinely creeped me out. Like proper unnerved me. It's a great film. Cast were fantastic, Bill was fantastic.

Spoiler:

that projecter scene was obscene. The whole cinema screeched lmao

Fetch The Bolt Cutters 10-09-2017 09:26 PM

Spoiler:

First it was flicking like a slide show, so Bill and Georgie's mother's hair was revealing Pennywise's face, Mike kicked the projector, but Pennywise burst out of the wonky projection, and was h00j

Glenn. 10-09-2017 09:55 PM

The way you just explained that did no justice whatsoever

I don't want to fall flat when he sees it for reals, so I aimed for blandness!

Glenn. 10-09-2017 10:33 PM

You succeeded

Oliver_W 10-09-2017 10:50 PM

I remember when I first read the book I kept having dreams you had to do the Ritual of Chud to get rid of household spiders.....

LaLaLand 10-09-2017 11:47 PM

Niamh. 11-09-2017 09:07 AM

Saw this last night, absolutely loved it, it wasn't overly scary but I love the whole feel of the film, it reminded me alot of Stranger Things actually

Niamh. 11-09-2017 09:11 AM

I actually thought the creepiest scene was when Ben was flicking through the book in the library :worry:

James 11-09-2017 12:40 PM

It's a big hit in America with $117 Million opening weekend. $179 worldwide.

Crimson Dynamo 11-09-2017 12:47 PM

All the LT and TL girls have seen it and loved it.

Jamie89 12-09-2017 12:56 PM

Going to see it this evening, can't wait based on what I've heard

Nicky91 12-09-2017 01:14 PM

great that this movie has been a huge success already, for the ones who are liking this of course

Jamie89 13-09-2017 12:06 PM

Ok so I'm scared of clowns now :worry:

Absolutely loved it! I agree with what others have said about the cast and the acting, and all of their story arcs, it was all just brilliant. It's probably one of my all time favourite horror movies.

It's excellent, I thought it was well acted and well written. I think some of the characterisations were a bit off (Eddie's backstory feels a bit simplified here) but then again this version of Beverly is probably the best one out of both adaptations AND the book. I also liked some of the changes from the previous versions.

Spoiler:

I'm glad they omitted the Mummy and the Werewolf from this version, both always struck me as very dumb in both the book and the 1990's version and I liked the adjustments to Eddie and Richie's fears here

My only criticism is that there was way too much CGI when it came to Pennywise. CGI has little to no place in horror films when it comes to the monsters. Practical effects or nothing.

That being said it's still a solid 9/10 and one of the best films I've seen this year.

Spoiler:

Adjustment? Eddie's fear was quite like the book! It's just a shame we didn't see the real leper who his fear was based on, non-book readers might have just clocked it as a full on zombie

Oh, I'm thinking of Ben I think, he's the one that's attacked by the mummy in the book

Oliver_W 14-09-2017 05:23 PM

Something I noticed in the old film - Mike had no reason to join the others. Stan saw the Mummy in the house in the park, which we learned in the second part, but all Mike saw was a hand poking out of a book. In his shoes, I'd probably wonder if a rock had hit my head or I was just strung out from the rock fight, and probably ignore it. He should have had his own IT encounter, and maybe joined the Losers sooner so they had more of a bond before going into the sewers.

He does actually mention that it was a leper though when he was telling the others about it

Jordan. 14-09-2017 09:40 PM

I liked it but a tad underwhelmed that it wasn't scary at all. Probably the most I've laughed during a horror film.

Amy Jade 14-09-2017 10:36 PM

I enjoyed it a lot and especially liked Beverly in this adaptation, I disliked her in the 90's movie and found her annoying in the book too. I actually liked all of the kids really which shocked me as there is usually one irritating weak link.

I though Bill did an amazing job as Pennywise too.

Annabelle: Creation probably made me jump more though I have to say.

Amy Jade 14-09-2017 10:44 PM

He's kinda hot and then that smile :worry:

iRyan 15-09-2017 04:33 AM

Bill Skarsgard...I'd take him

Daniel. 15-09-2017 10:23 PM

I saw it, it was really good and I absolutely shat myself when he grabbed Bev in bathroom :worry:

It was funny as well, agree with those saying the main characters were likeable.

Cal. 16-09-2017 09:38 AM

Watching tonight finally!

Oliver_W 16-09-2017 03:27 PM

Aww Pennywise is lovely really!

Jodie. 16-09-2017 08:37 PM

Just watched it... is it my fav horror film of 2017 so far? Yes Xx

Wizard. 17-09-2017 10:59 PM

Loved this :clap1: I love films set in the 80's in general, it had Stranger Things vibes  The acting was amazing, cast was incredible and the film had so much heart and funny moments that I forgot it was horror, which I like because I don't like being sh*t scared. That being said, my only problem was that I was confused as a person who never read the book, about what Pennywise actually did with the kids. Despite him biting Georgie's arm off, I was under the impression that he was still alive as were all of the other missing children and were just in a floating state like Bev was (even though Pennywise attacked them, because Bill did say it wasn't real when it came to their fears, so it made it look like the children's deaths might not be real either) so I came out of it thinking "what happened to the floating children are they not being reunited with their families?") I also thought the bully killing his dad was strange and then him dying down the well not long after was a bit pointless? I loved Bev's bloody bathroom scene though, again a bit confused how her Dad couldn't see it because it wasn't imaginary seeing as they cleaned the bathroom up.

Looking forward to Chapter 2 (isn't that how Stranger Things title their episodes?) although reading on Wikipedia that it's set 27 years later when their adults was disappointing as I liked the child actors, and made me think that this would have been better suited as a TV series.

Nancy. 17-09-2017 11:40 PM

I just saw it earlier and have to say (although I wasn't a fan of the mini series with Tim Curry),this version was amazing. The acting is top notch. I was surprised they went as far as they did in the scene when Georgie was attacked by Pennywise. You don't usually see many scenes like that with kids. As a whole I didn't find it scary at all. I really can't wait to see the next one and will certainly be buying the blu-ray when it comes out.

Georgie was dead, Bill was just in denial. The floating kids (apart from Bev) were dead and partially eaten, he was saving them for later. He couldn't kill Bev as she wasn't afraid, so he just hypnotised her (sort of, the Deadlights are weird) and put her up there to sort out later. Bev's dad couldn't see the blood because adults can't see Pennywise or his tricks, so the homeless people would see the house on Neibolt Street as just a house.

Ah thanks for clearing that up, poor Georgie :(

To add to the Chapter 2 thing, I'm pretty sure I saw a quote from the director saying they wanted to secure the kids for flashbacks filming. Have you seen the original miniseries/read the book?
Spoiler:

It's set in the "modern" day, and the adults now live in different parts of America, and Bill is in the UK. Mike stayed behind, and rings them to see IT's back. After each phonecall, there's a flashback to when they were kids, ending with them beating it. The second part is mostly about the adults trying to beat IT, with some flashbacks

_Tom_ 21-09-2017 01:18 PM

Yeah this film sucked, it was boring af.

JerseyWins 25-09-2017 01:17 AM

Saw this on Friday. A bit of a messy plot and kinda boring tbh (at least for stretches of time). Definitely not terrible though as I wasn't completely bored but it was disappointing for what I was expecting. 6.5/10 and that's maybe generous but it wasn't all bad.
