I can't believe anyone would suggest we should just accept being overcharged however much it is - that would give the dishonest licence to get away with it. It's the principle, not the amount. 29p here and 29p there soon mounts up.

If it's marked up at a certain price that is what they have to charge you. My local co-op's computers never seem to be able to keep up with their 'offers' and regularly advertising one amount and charging another higher amount at the till. I always question it.

come back to me when you have never left the house and realised you needed a pint of milk or something small and left your wallet at home and if you haven't then you really aren't doing the household shop very regularly

its good for you I don't have an iphone also there are still some shops that don't do contactless...the card factory is one off the top of my head

Jordan. 31-08-2017 04:04 PM

I take my wallet with me even if I don't intend on shopping. Quite silly leaving at home where it can be stolen whilst you're out

Cherie 31-08-2017 04:04 PM

I also leave my house without my phone sometimes, Im not a slave to tech :hee:

Smithy 31-08-2017 04:05 PM

Just going back to the OP, honestly, mistakes happen in retail all the time, people would be surprised how difficult it is for staff to keep on top of it all

I think if you'd been over charged a lot on something I'd agree, but when it's 29p on 5 garlic breads, imo it's just a bit sad to complain, get over it

The Card Factory will be on its way out soon then  if you can't keep up with the times you go bust

Better hope you're nobodies emergency contact for anything then

No I mean shops run by old people, or cafes that's have been in a family for generations, those sort of places

No lol the ones that came to mind are the 2 chip shops nearest to me and an ecig shop near where I work

Oh also, one shop in my village is a real old lady ran shop though

Smithy 31-08-2017 04:13 PM

One of the chippys over here doesn't take card so I never go there, so it clearly has a detrimental effect on their business

It's garlic bread not champagne, just to dezzy with your debit card answer, have you ever seen someone get to the till and their card won't work, because I have loads of times, plus I know two cafes and a kebab shop that only take cash.

Pretty sure most people given the choice would prefer the chance to protect their belongings than to leave them open to being stolen. How BIZARRE to think otherwise :umm2:

I would think my money is safer at home than in my pocket though idk
Like if you keep your wallet somewhere logical and like dont tape it to the outside of your window then you don't have a problem unless you live in an area where you're being broken into everyday but in that case you would to take anything of value like an xbox or something with you :joker:

exactly

if your laptop, game consoles and that are safe at your house then your card/wallet will 100% be safe because laptops etc are most likely to get stolen than a wallet.

Right to point it out imo. They were obviously displaying an old price or expired offer and if no one points that out then they'll just continue to display the wrong price. Probably means there's other products which are priced incorrectly as well

Smithy, how about you start a 'charity'. You pay for all the supermarket mistakes. ;)

Another 'bargain' store does that too where I live. Wrong prices, different at the till. They must be making a small fortune from the elderly who think they're getting bargains.

Dont go to a shop Dezzy or Smithy work in as they will rob you blind

Again... no, they don't have too

Do we have to sell products for the price shown if we have made a mistake?
Normally, no. When, for example, a shop displays products and their prices, the shop is not directly offering them for sale but issuing an 'invitation to treat': when the customer offers to buy the product, the shop can decide whether to accept or reject the customer's offer.

You would, of course, need to correct the price once your error had been pointed out. Otherwise you could be accused of displaying a deliberately misleading price and could face legal action.
