I have a friend (well probably more of an acquaintance) who fully transitioned MtF and she reckons the surgeons told her explicitly that the results will likely not be what she was expecting and might not even look anything like a 'vagina'..along with a bunch of risks such as the constructed clitoris may fall off and such. So as usual, India is talking utter bollocks. Also took my friends months and months to recover fully from the op, where India reckons its a quick recovery and is just like getting a tooth taken out D: |

I wouldn't class SRS as a vanity/cosmetic procedure personally, it's done as a treatment for gender dysphoria. There are plenty of treatments done on the NHS that aren't directly life saving or that are 'less important' than cancer treatments but we try and treat as many afflictions as possible if we have the means to do so. SRS improves quality of life, helps with depression, prevents self-mutilation, and lowers suicide rates, so I think it's a good thing.

Its never really been considered an important issue by the government it seems, and now they are trying to remove the little thats left. If they invested in it it would remove a lot of demand for other nhs services and help so many people. ******* i'm so angry about this #angrygrumpygit |
