Yes the Tories have turned Brexit into a monumental cluster ****. That doesn't mean I can't be disappointed when one professional politician tells another professional politician that she's a stupid woman. That's what this is about.

Be honest with yourself though, if the genders were reversed would you be making such a big deal out of it? If she called him a stupid man, I would not blink. I certainly wouldn't raise up a stink about it considering how much her government have ****ed up in ways that matter. Getting upset over someone being called a stupid man or woman is pointless and it's just another distraction.

Parliament's too concerned with one-upping each other in the press and scoring points when a deadline looms ahead and we're no closer to having anything resembling a plan. This whole story and the faux outrage that comes with it is just another attempt at getting the nation to focus elsewhere.

Mitchell 19-12-2018 04:43 PM

It really looked like stupid people to me, but obviously it’s open to interpretation. I dont recall seeing this outrage when David Mundell told Yvette Cooper to ‘shut up, bitch’

MTVN 19-12-2018 04:44 PM

Corbyn has previous for this sort of behaviour of course

I am always honest with myself. And with everyone else.

I wouldn't get annoyed at someone calling him a stupid man. But if a Tory called a female Labour MP a stupid woman I'd be just as annoyed. And it wouldn't matter what else was going on in the world. All the time women are a minority in parliament it would annoy me.

MTVN 19-12-2018 04:48 PM

Talking about whether it would be as bad if the genders were reversed misses the point that women are under-represented in Parliament and have always been subject to discrimination and harassment in Westminster by men who have no respect for them, comments like 'stupid woman' are rooted in that culture

That's exactly it. Party politics doesn't come into it... It happened to be Corbyn.

And a lot of those men are probably feigning outrage and offense because it suits them to do so. This isn't an issue of sexism, it's an issue of party lines, scoring points and distractions.

If you want to parrot what I've said earlier to make a point, it's generally prudent to understand the context first.

There's no need to be so rude, you know. I am not stupid and I completely understand the context.

So as not to allow this to turn into a spiteful tit-for-tat, I'll leave you thinking your opinion is the only one. I've said all I have to say and I and by it.

Yes, thank you for taking the time to signify the obvious that an opinion is indeed an opinion.

Do I need to signify my opinions in future for your benefit so you don't seemingly mistake them for me pushing my thoughts as facts?

What makes me think you don't understand that everyone's opinion is valid is the language you use and the way you intimate whomever is not of your mind is slightly stupid and missing the point.

You've done the same thing here.

Perhaps, but the term "mansplaining" is basically "patronising" for stupid people.

Leave the faux offense out of it.

Where have I stated that my 'opinion is the only one?' Point it out to me, defend your accusation because it looks to me like you're trying to force a narrative that I'm pushing my opinions as facts just so you can render them invalid without actually putting forth a counter argument.

You make out that I can't handle opinions that aren't my own but that seems more likely to be projection on your part.

You've done the same thing here.

So you're overanalysing and reaching then to prove a point that doesn't exist.

You're using your own conclusions to paint what I say in a way that benefits you, I've never once said you aren't entitled to opposing opinions and I've never tried to supress your opinions either, I just respond to your views with my own.

You're the one that is once again trying to paint my opinion as something other than being an opinion so you can discredit it without effort.

Because Nicholas is on the right side of the party lines.

0 people mentioning it on TiBB? Wonder why?

Kazanne 19-12-2018 05:18 PM

He's a liar aswell as a coward he definitely said woman

joeysteele 19-12-2018 05:18 PM

I'll take his word, he said stupid people.
However those who state, it would be fine for a Woman to call a man stupid but it's not acceptable for a man to call a woman stupid, is utter hypocrisy in my view.

She was being stupid, those behind her cheering her for her stupidity, were too.
Whether he said people or woman, that woman, not all women at all.
He was right on either count for me.

Perhaps she should act less infantile and ridiculous at PMQs and just concentrate on actually answering some directly.

Members of parliament are duty bound by parliamentary rules to treat everyone in the house with respect. What Corbyn said was not respectful.

I don't actually care what he said, what it showed to me is that he is a man that loses his temper much to quickly, and that should be of great concern to everyone if he has a chance of being the next PM

He was very rattled, I don't agree with all the panto references but then this is what happens every week from both sides, so not sure why he took such exception to it today, it did look like he said 'woman', and even if he did say stupid people, he buys into that every week with his own quips

Amazing, it's thought he termed a woman stupid when she and hundreds of others on her side were anyway.
That's deemed wrong.

However you a woman can call a man a liar, and that's fine.

My god, it would be better if humans were never to speak in public again on near anything, the way things are heading.

"Corbyn is a stupid man" ,"May is a stupid woman" It's OK to say that, nothing happens. If our leaders are too fragile to take that, then we are in trouble.
