Funnily enough though... Joe would be Dexter's exact target :omgno:. Crossover episode where Dexter tries to kill Joe (but doesn't manage to, because Joe clearly has his luck stat set to 10)

I think you could argue that Benji was (somewhat) planned, just not thought through. The rest were definitely more impulse kills, he even tried to declare Peach's death "self-defence". Though TBF Peach was clearly intended as the only-marginally-more-sane female counterpart to Joe and probably had some Beck underwear stashed somewhere too :joker:.

I'd watch that but only if Dexter succeeded

Benji was kind of planned but I still think Joe would have let him go if he was sure he wouldn't get caught out

I think he was fairly content with the video evidence of the drowning being enough to keep him safe, but he got the idea in his head that (ironically) Beck wasn't "safe" with Benji around, though probably the real motivation was that he didn't think Beck would move on if Benji was still kicking around, even if he broke contact with her.

Oh yes another major difference between Dexter and Joe, Dexter was very self aware, Joe is not

Fumed @ Peach's death. Easily the best character

thisisdanny 20-01-2019 10:22 PM

I enjoyed this. So many questions though. What happened with the pot of wee, wasn't there going to be DNA tested at the house where Peach died idk

Shaun 21-01-2019 06:31 AM

Just finished.

Jesus christ this got worse as it went on. So many plotholes and ridiculous characterisations. It wasn't by any means a terrible show but it was very... 'Lifetime'. Which is fitting since that's where it aired, first

I'd give the season a 5/10.

RileyH 21-01-2019 09:39 PM

Ok finally finished this and I LOVED it. I was genuinely shook @ Beck's death and when there was an extra cage at the top of the stairs and then Paco abandoned her

DouglasS 27-12-2019 04:16 PM

Has anyone finished season 2 yet? I’ve just got 2 episodes to go.

This season is just as good as the first, full of twists and you never know where the plot is going. Very easy to watch. It’s an easy to watch show and if you don’t take it too seriously it’s brilliant.

The use of a new girl and Candace makes it more exciting than the first series imo.

Morgan. 27-12-2019 05:16 PM

Binged S1 last week and loved it. Seen 2 episodes of S2 so far and it’s not as good as S1 but hoping it picks up. Gonna take this watch a little slower so I have time to take it in.

RileyH 27-12-2019 05:37 PM

Just finished Episode 6. Was hesitant to start at first because I just assumed it'd be more or less a copy of the first one with the Candace plot wrapped up within the first 2 episodes but honestly I think I prefer it to the first one (despite the lack of Peach Salinger (RIP)) <3

RileyH 27-12-2019 05:37 PM

Also I absolutely LOVE Delilah

Fetch The Bolt Cutters 27-12-2019 05:41 PM

Haven’t seen this but the name penn badgley makes me scream

Marsh. 27-12-2019 05:42 PM

Why

Fetch The Bolt Cutters 27-12-2019 05:45 PM

Coz it’s like someone asked him what his name is and he didn’t want to tell them so he looked around the room and saw a pen and a badge and came up with that

Marsh. 27-12-2019 05:47 PM

I enjoyed season 2 a lot, especially the side plots like Henderson, Delilah and Ellie.

However...
Spoiler:

I figured out Love was an utter psycho pretty early on, I suspected she killed her ex but that was a bit of a red herring but as soon as Joe found Delilah dead I knew Love had killed her because she was jealous.

I think if anything the more minor characters were the highlights of the season (LOVED Delilah) but Love and her brother were soooooo annoying and hard to even care about wheras Beck from season 1 was actually really well acted and written so easy to root for, that was sorely missing in my opinion this season. Candace was also massively under used.

In my house he will forever be known as Badge Penley

Just finished Series 2. Loved it! Think series 1 was a bit better though. Hope there is a series 3. Looks like Joe/Will might have an affair with the next door neighbour. Hope there is more sex and passion in series 3 and humour as well as the dark humour.

Beastie 27-12-2019 10:05 PM

Yeah Fourty was a pretty annoying character. I like Love but I feel for series 3 she's going to settle because she's having the baby. Hopefully it's Joes baby and not that aussie guy. Where Joe is continuously dark. I thought Joe probably won't have an affair. He's got the love of his life but meh. Seems like our Joe might get bored easily. Naughty boy x

DouglasS 27-12-2019 11:30 PM

Forty is my favourite character, a breath of fresh air and provides good comedy value. Probably the best character of the first two seasons

One more episode to go

I disagree with most of this. Beck was awful in season one and completely unrootable, and unbelievably annoying. I’ve not met anyone in life that liked her and most wanted her killed off :skull:

Love was a far better character, and far more rootable. It was only until the last episode where opinions changed on her. Forty was also perfect for the show and added a lot of other elements.

I think the side characters were good also - and candace was underused as she bought the best plot lines imo - the episode forty bought her to meet the parents was probably the best one

Is this actually good? Or "so bad it's good"?

A bit of both? Some parts are just so far fetched that it makes it ‘so bad it’s good’, but it has parts where there’s some actual quality to it. I found it extremely binge-able, you always want to know what’s coming next.

Just finished Season 2

It's good IMO, but not to be taken overly seriously, it's best defined as a dark comedy. Some of the situations are obviously unrealistic but it's knowingly so, if that makes sense.

7 episodes into S2. God Joe is such a creepy slimeball, how do these women actually like him?

It is legit a good watch though. Randomly very funny at times too (though it's not a comedy; I'd say knowingly funny in the way that Bates Motel was on occasion).

Killed random folk or bad people like Dexter did ??

Killed people who got in the way of his relationships. So they are bad to him, but not to the audience.

A mixture actually, but not murderers like Dexter... he mostly kills people who are inconvenient to him personally, but...

Spoiler:

In S1 he kills his neighbour's boyfriend, who is abusing her and her son, because he's befriended the son... and in S2 he kills a Hollywood producer type guy who has been drugging and taking pictures of teenage girls (accidentally, whilst holding him prisoner). Again because he's befriended a young girl who is the guy's "latest target"

So basically he doesn't kill "because he wants to" and doesn't seem to get any enjoyment out of it... but he does get rid of people because he thinks it's "necessary". He's definitely a villain, not an anti-hero :joker:.
