and I'm sure the same people here would condone the use of the police on the yellow vest movement in France?

Those rioters who vandalise and torch buildings? Yeah I can't imagine why anyone would condone the use of police on them.

Er....

Just seen images of two of them stood on a train to hold it up.

Why are they targeting public transport if they’re worried about global warming?

Surely they want more people on public transport rather than in cars.

They just want something to do,so thought it was a good idea to stop people doing what they should be doing like working ! Wonder how they would feel if a member of their family was held up in an ambulance,do these idiots even think about other people when getting carried away their futile protest.

Don't give them too much credit for thinking skills.

Cherie 17-04-2019 10:56 AM

I admire what they are trying to do but here in the west we are so in thrall to consumerism I think apart from slinging a few plastic bottles in the recycling, people really aren't going to change their habits that much...

Have you got a source for that? I'd be interested in having a read.

Tom4784 17-04-2019 11:22 AM

Considering how close to a precipice we are and how many lives climate change could end if we fall over the precipice, a broken window doesn't matter in the slightest.

The truth of the matter is that we are ****ed, the children even more so because climate change is their future and everything is just ****ed.

I want a source for the claims you are making about the demands being made, not a photo.

I already know you've got the middle class part from Boulton, now I'm interested in where the rest of it comes from.

I mean, I’m all for the cause, something does need to happen about the environment, it’s a critical issue, but smashing windows and disrupting innocent people’s days isn’t going to endear many people to feel sympathy for your cause, vandalism doesn’t make you a martyr, it makes you a common criminal

Its all very well screeching that the government needs to do something, we need to take personal responsibility for instance how many Easter Eggs will people consume this weekend full of palm oil and packaged in plastic ..

That's a sacrifice I'm not willing to make.

bots 17-04-2019 11:53 AM

given that a couple of towns in China do more environmental damage than the entirety of the UK, I think their anger is misdirected

Crimson Dynamo 17-04-2019 11:53 AM

i bet hardly any of them could aswer some basic meteorological questions

and i bet they have no udea where forecasts actuallycome from and how unreliable most can be and how reliable others can be

they are probably all taking stuff from sh1tty accuweather from their iphones

This question was put to a protester and the response was we have to start somewhere and lead the way and hope other countries will follow, which is fair point I suppose

I don't agree with what they're doing, but this isn't a weather forecast issue, it's a climate issue. I know you trust and believe in best science we have, and that says that we're in the sh1t. Climate denial used to belong to the dumb right in the US, or is science-denial creeping over here too?

The packaging on those things is out of control, no reason they couldn't be packaged in bio-degradable materials.

Its crazy, I suppose you can recycle most of it but why not just reduce the amount of packaging in the first place :skull:

plus the fact that people will consume their bodyweight in chocolate

There was a book once called SuperFreakonomics sequel to Freakonomics that said that global warming could be combated by putting sulfur dioxide into the atmosphere, that would dim the effect of the sun and cool the planet, for relatively low cost.

I don't know how realistic it is.

Yes Very True.

Mokka 17-04-2019 01:16 PM

Oh that sounds genius. Let's but a toxic chemical into our breathing space... one that is naturally caused by the burning of fuels so it must be good... one that can easily convert into other harmful compounds... but it's for global warming
