If anyone thinks people don't get around not legally drinking on trains, they are mistaken.
At least she did hers openly.
Although hardly the crime of the century.

I'm not going to condemn her on this.
Absolutely loads get away with this all the time.
It's a bit of a draft rule in my opinion anyway.

Tbf I presume it's to tackle the drunks/alcoholics who are a nightmare on public transport.

Obviously people like Abbott aren't like that, but it's easier to just have a rule of no alcohol I suppose.

I agree shes a bit of a mess in general. However, I find the massive massive uproar about this incident to be a bit..over the top. But most criticisms of her seem to be generally. Shes a **** politician.no doubts about that, but the abuse she gets is..a bit much IMO

if she was a half competent mp nobody would probably give a crap. Unfortunately, she subjects the general public to abuse nearly every day with her hypocrisy (this isn't the first time) and her scandalous behaviour and stupidity. What goes around comes around.

Yes, good points.
I can take all that on board.

This too and extremely strong point.

I do agree she is a liability.
Seems to always end up putting her foot in it rather than thinking about where she's going.

Meh, it's an example of people jumping on a nonstory to rubbish the side they don't like. Very petty.

Oliver_W 21-04-2019 01:51 PM

I wonder when this even was. Even she's not dim enough to wear a coat like that in the weather we've had since like Thursday...

I also am fairly sure I remember some of the trains having a bar! Not a bar bar, but a little one, usually in 1st class..but available for all :S

I’d be in prison by now if the contents of the bottles I’ve drunk on trains were inspected.

Crimson Dynamo 21-04-2019 02:40 PM

I used to have a wee drink on my overland train from Waterloo to Richmond as it goes, a wee double whisky and coke from WH Smiths but this was before it was illegal.when I first arrived in LOndon you could smoke on the Tube

It wouldn't be a story if it wasn't her, if it was any other MP that the tabloids happened to like and thus the story is pointless. Just point scoring for the petty.

You might want to dabble a bit in the non-robot world if you get so wound up by a non-event. I don’t think anyone else is that bothered.

… and here's a post from someone pretending that two wrongs make a right. Like this somehow mitigates Abbott's breaking of the law.

The Left need to suck up criticism and stop twisting like a fish on a line trying to justify EVERYTHING they do.

Nobody said it justifies what she did.

It's just very telling that someone was so eager to point fingers at Abbott for breaking a law.... by breaking a law.

The irony.

Imagine reacting to this story with outrage just because the tabloids told you it was outrageous and then calling the people who know this nonstory is ridiculous sheep....

You wouldn't care if any randomer was having a quiet drink on a train, you wouldn't get morally outraged over it. People are just clutching their pearls in faux outrage because of who it is, not because the act is actually offensive in any way.

Utter pettiness.
