There are no empty shelves, people aren't buying lorry loads, just two bags of pasta instead of one, just in case.

Exactly.....its not stripping stores bare but considering what they are proposing if it gets much worse its prudent to stock up a little. They are forecasting a global recession which will hit all industries, including food so no need to panic but be realistic. I've seen worse panic buying on Christmas eve...you know when the shops are shut for a full 24 hours

Not seen any bare shelves apart from the antivac ones but I don't buy that anyway

bots 03-03-2020 05:39 AM

all you basically need are some lentils and some rice. Buy a few bags ... total cost a couple of quid and you have food for months if needed.

Ammi 03-03-2020 06:54 AM

...for anyone who is stock piling essentials, this came up on my news thing this morning...just saying...

not gonna be hamstering anything myself, people need to just not listen to this fear-mongering from the media

i watched a video from a professor/scientist from Singapore last night, he also mostly said what you can do

- no airconditioning but open your windows

- create nice warm but still humid space in house

and he also thinks by may it could be gone when temperatures become warmer and there is better humidity too, based upon SARS studies (and this covid-19 is similar to that too lesser deadly than SARS but more worrying than a regular flu, more bit of a mix of those)

no need for panic he also said

Cal. 03-03-2020 07:50 AM

WHY is Cherie scaremongering I’m upset now

Cal. 03-03-2020 07:53 AM

I am VERY thin and good looking so this isn’t necessary for me.

Nicky91 03-03-2020 07:58 AM

also it makes me laugh how it takes a virus to realize people need to wash their hands properly

me and my parents wash our hands everytime before we eat something, after going to bathroom, or returning from shopping/grocery shopping

also for less panic, maybe Boris should contact chinese officials on how they had successfully treated and cured that 98 year old woman from the virus since that is quite surprising given it is mostly fatal to elderly  spread the word to countries who need it too, and hopefully curing lots of infected in britain, italy, iran, japan, Germany

here in Netherlands, those infected are just stupid idiots who ignored warnings of not going to northern italy, and still going on holiday (because otherwise a waste of money) :umm2: idk what is more important, health or money :skull:

but i don't give a single damn what the media has to say (getting sick and tired of hearing it constantly on the news either now) i only look at facts myself

Crimson Dynamo 03-03-2020 08:00 AM

Nicky ending Cherie and her scaremongering ways and having a swipe at profligate holidaymakers in holland

:clap1:

All that does is leave some little old lady without any bread and milk.

When we had the petrol shortage a few years back people where going stupid.

One guy had a trolley full of milk and bread in Tesco and was told put some back.

I don't know why everyone stocks up on bread and milk anyway, they're the last things you should be stockpiling, surely it should be tinned and powdered stuff

Hmmm.
Tesco were selling them 10 for £2 last week, caramel ones as well.
Trouble is, they are irresistible.

not you trying to say you know it better than scientists who actually studied this virus closely

the actual other name for covid-19 is SARS-NCov2

but SARS had a higher death percentage

this current virus is more inbetween of a regular flu (so more worrying than that) and SARS (but lesser deadly only for certain age group 55+)

no need for any panic, just avoid places like Italy, Iran, Japan, ''China still'' although China has lesser new infections compared to last few weeks

this thread is kinda irrelevant if you ask me

Crimson Dynamo 03-03-2020 11:30 AM

Nicky i get the feeling you are worried about this but you are trying to style it out?

Its ok to be worried

I am saying this yes, warm and humid conditions are generally perfect for growing anything, veg, flowers, viruses.. ie greenhouse conditions :skull:
